Two CRAZY Weekends in a row!

January 17-19, 2014
Martin Luther King Weekend was "one crazy weekend." Calli had a soccer tournament in Las Vegas Friday, Saturday and Monday that we were planning on driving down and back for each day, but when my mom called and told me that my cousin Russ's 16 year old daughter Ashlan had just taken her life and that the funeral was that same Saturday, we rearranged our schedule and added a funeral into the mix as well.
FRIDAY: We drove down and back to Las Vegas for Calli's first soccer game.
Calli in her cute Bombers Uniform.
Adam, Sadie and Gentry playing a little soccer on the sidelines during half-time.
The game was at 8:00 pm Vegas Time (9:00 pm Utah time) We got home around 1:00 am and headed straight to bed. We managed to get 4 1/2 hours of sleep.
SATURDAY:
We got up at 5:30 am and headed in the opposite direction this time to Payson. We picked up my mom and dad and made it to Payson in time for the viewing, funeral and luncheon.  It was such an outstanding funeral. So sad, yet so spiritual and uplifting.  Russ who is a singer, songwriter and has several CD's out, sang one of his original songs at the funeral. It was so moving.  The luncheon was great. It was good to be able to sit and visit with family we don't get to see too often.  After the luncheon we headed to Kevin's house to change and visit with them and Ben and Stacy for a couple hours before getting back on the road.  We were tired but made it home around 10:00 pm. Our bodies literally, fell into bed.
SUNDAY:
We slept in, went to church and just recuperated.
MONDAY:
Early Monday morning we found ourselves back in the car heading to Las Vegas again to finish out the tournament.
Bombers SC 2014 with coaches Kimball Leavitt and Jen Bergen.

The following weekend we were at it again.
January 24-26, 2014
FRIDAY:
We headed to Mesquite for another soccer tournament...this time it was Gentry's turn. Her first game was at 1:15 so I checked her out of school and then we met the team at the high school and car pooled down. She is brand new to the team and had only been to a few practices but did good for her first tournament. She is very timid and mostly just runs the field but she's learning. After the game we drove back home, gathered the rest of the family, ate dinner and ran down again for game # 2 at 7:30 pm. (NevadaTime)
She looks so cute in her "Bombers" uniform.
We got home late that night.
SATURDAY: Calli had to drive with her instructor from 10-12. We picked her up from the high school and headed to the the Drill Team Regionals to watch Jorrin and the Eshelles. Calli and I left half way through to take her to EFY Express.  I made it back just in time for awards.  Afterwards we ran a couple errands and back home just in time to jump in the car again and head to Mesquite for the final game.
Jaicelyn and Sadie entertaining themselves during half-time.
Again, we got home late and went right to bed.
SUNDAY:
We woke up at 5:00 am got ready and were on the road by 6:00 am heading to Bountiful for Jaxon's farewell.  We went to the farewell and the luncheon.
 The girls and Elder Peterson
He is heading for the Omaha, Nebraska mission
One last "cinnamon roll hand shake" between cousins.
It was two great weekends but after long hours in the car and lots and lots of miles on the car we are sure hoping we are home for a while now....knock on wood.

St. George Children's Museum!

After hearing all the hype about the new Children's Museum we decided to go check it out, plus I wanted to see about the possibilities of taking the preschool there for a field trip. Calli was a little hesitant about it being too juvenile but came along anyway. We were there for about 2 minutes before Calli decided it was the cutest place ever and ran around from place to place the entire time.  The girls brought some friends along and they all had a blast for about 2 hours before we were able to pull them away.
Shopping at the grocery store.
Milking the cow on the farm.
Farm tractor
 The recording studio
(Love this Picture)
Luggage in hand getting on the airplane at the airport.
Gentry changing tires at Stephen Wade
While Calli just jumped right under the car and went to work.
You've got to have style to be a mechanic.

The science room. This was one of their favorites.
 Freezing their shadows
Their "frozen shadows" on the wall
Gentry trying out the big human bubble.
 Sadie's Turn

Calli and Nikki in the bubble.
Calli and Sadie (AKA Stockton and Malone) taken their skills to the court for a little wheelchair basketball.
Adam and I changing the marquee.
After 2 hours running around and playing in every room it was unfortunately time to go home.

New Years!

NEWS YEARS EVE
We had a great New Years Eve with friends this year.
We went to a fun "primer party" from 7-9. Our good friends that owns Jumpin' Jumps invited us and a bunch of other families (Bangs, Brooks, Hansen's, Klunker's, Anderson's, Stouts and Johnson's)  to Jumpin' Jacks for what she called a primer party. A party to kick off all our other parties.  We ate, hung out and visited while the kids took over the place.  At 9:00 we headed to Dave and Jen Anderson's to continue the party with some of the same people from Jumpin' Jacks. We ate some more, hung out, visited and played games. It was great catching up with the Klunker's.  We stayed and brought in the new year with a indoor pinata full of balloons, blowers, whistles, masks etc. The kids loved it.
Kaden, Gentry and Miley
We got home around 1:00am and found that even though we weren't home this year our annual "News Years Eve Battle" with the Larsen's continued...
They had covered all our doorways (front and back) with Black plastic and duck tape.  I sent them a text that said : "You better sleep with one eye open"  Kami text back: "Bring it on, we're not scared." We quickly put our heads together and came up with a plan of retaliation.
(Being that Scott is NOT an Obama supporter and let's his opinion known) We made a dozen paper plate signs all in support of Obama. Some of the signs had pictures of Obama on them and some said things like: "#1 President, Obama rules, Obama is the best, We love Obama, We believe in Obama, We support Obama, Obama is the Bomb, We love Obama-care" etc.
We sneaked over around 1:30am and stuck them all over the front lawn.
The next morning we anxiously waited for them to find them.  We knew when they did because we received this text from Kami "That was low, we have lost all respect." Haha, YES! Mission successful. Can't wait to see what next year brings.
NEW YEARS DAY-
Adam had it off...YAY! We slept in and had a pretty easy morning with Adam making omelets for breakfast and me taking a nap. That afternoon we went to "The Hobbit." On the way home we picked up Pizza and  had a fun night of games, writing our resolutions and looking back at some of our fun memories from 2013.
2013 was good but here's to hoping that 2014 will be even better!!!
