LeT's Go FlY a KiTe!

Sunday we took advantage of the breeze and tried out our new Kite Festival kites down at Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's house.
Adam showing Sadie his kite flying skills!

Gentry standing on Grandma and Grandpa's Trampoline so the kite would be "even higher." (If you look between the trees you can see how high it actually is...thanks to Adams awesome skills)
This is Calli's idea of kite flying!

My girls are exhausted!

What a crazy week. We had two soccer games, piano lessons, gymnastics, 6th grade math placement test, field day, days of Camelot, Lion King performance, and our Family Fun Day all land in the same week. My girls are getting to bed late and getting up early, they are so tired and worn out. I told them "just make it to Saturday and then you can sleep in"...then I remembered they have a primary activity Saturday morning. Oh, my poor girls, we'll have to all take naps on Sunday to catch up. But what a fun week it was...here's a recap of our week so far.

Family Fun Day!

For Easter this year the Easter Bunny brought us a "Family Fun Day!" In each of the girls baskets they had passes, gift cards, and tickets for a complete Family Fun Day! We first stopped by Lin's for some free hot dogs, chips, drinks and bounce house fun, then off to the Kite Festival to pick up the girls kites, then the fun began, our first stop...
Fiesta Fun! We did the bumper boats first where everyone gained up on me, thinking it would be fun if I got soaked...I did and it was! Next it was Miniature golfing, this was a experience. In the beginning everyone was taking their time and really getting into it, usually making it in within 3-4 hits. At one point Sadie actually got a hole in one; but by the end...
Gentry and Sadie gave up on their clubs and began rolling them, it was taking us about 10 tries to get it in the hole and everyone was going out of turn just to be the first to move on. On the very last hole Calli was so worried about her ball disappearing in the deep hole that she was being very careful. When she finally did decide to hit her ball it bounced off an obstacle and landed in the water instead. We had a good laugh. Next Stop, The Bear Mill.

Here are the girls as happy as little jay birds leaving the Bear Mill with their animals on their backs. Our favorite story about the bear mill is the name Sadie picked for her bear. She named him "Dink." Which didn't seem to bad until she started singing a song about it in the car. "My Dink, My Dink, wherever I go he wants to go"...Adam and I were laughing so hard, she kept asking us what was so funny! After the Bear Mill we went Pirates Island Pizza to end the day.
Here's Gentry trying to hit her target at the shooting range.
What a great "Family Fun Day" Thank you Easter Bunny!

Track Meet!

We had the Track meet on Monday. They kept pushing the date back because of bad weather, I'm so glad they did, the weather was beautiful.
Calli ran the 800 and the 100.
In the 100 Calli came in second in her group. They took the top 8 runners out of all the groups and had a "finals" run. Calli was one of the eight. Out of the eight runners, two would go to District. Calli came in 4th. But she was actually okay with that because she came in first in the 800 and automatically qualified for district. (We are still waiting for the results in the softball throw; an event she went to district in last year) I'm so glad I have a sports chick. She does everything that I did and loved as a kid only better. Super job Calli!

Calli and Gentry hanging out together in between Calli's races.

Gentry did so good. She never complained. She just snacked, colored, played her DS, and hung out with Calli's friends. I was so proud of her AND so grateful that I took her to McDonald's to play and cool off for a few minutes before heading out again.

Lion King!

The girls then had their Lion King Performances. Calli got the part of Big Simba and Sadie was baby Nala.
This is right before the performance. Calli was a hyena the first half and then we ran back stage during intermission and got her whiskers on for Simba, (she is trying not to smile so her makeup won't crack.) I just love Sadie's cute pink nose, everyone kept wanting to touch it.
Here is Sadie as baby Nala, with Zazu and another Lion. This was Sadie's first big role where she had quite a few lines and a few solos. She did such a great job. I was so proud of her.

Here's Calli as Simba starring up at the stars with Timon and Pumba. She did a great job as always. She has had a few main roles now and is so good at memorizing her lines. I love that the girls have something they enjoy doing together, it was so much fun to watch them practicing their lines and songs together and then performing. Way to go Calli and Sadie!

Other Mischief!

Even with such a busy schedule the girls still found time to play. We had nine kids here playing on Tuesday but you would have never known it, they were being so good. At one point they were being so quiet, I went to see what they were doing, and this is what I found....
Sadie and her friends were putting on a "party" for Gentry and her friends. They got out the Party box and decorated Sadie and Gentry' room, complete with streamers hanging on the fan.
They had games, treats and even goodie bags for their guests. Here they are playing the toilet paper game. They had such a fun time. It was way cute, I'm amazed with how creative kids can be! They were really good about cleaning it up to, only now I'm out of toilet paper.

"Hoppy Easter!"

The girls decorating their Easter eggs!
Here are some of the eggs that didn't get eaten before I could take the picture!
OUR ANNUAL LOSEE EASTER EGG HUNT!
Each year my mom puts on the best hunt ever and my dad feeds us the best BBQ ever. We had a great time, learning about the "True" meaning of Easter, hunting for over 400 eggs, winning prizes, eating my dad's world famous ribs, breaking a Pinata, getting sick on candy, being together as a family and laughing until our stomachs hurt.

Sadie going after the Pinata.

Sorry there's no pictures of the hunt, I always get way to excited and forget to take pictures.
Sunday Morning!
The Girls in their darling new Easter dresses that Grandma Peterson gave them.

The Easter bunny came while we were at church and left a trail of eggs and footprints to follow...

leading them to the trampoline (which was their Easter from Adam and I) where they found a Easter Basket full of surprises.

We got a tramp from one of Ben and Stacy's neighbors. They said if you haul it you can take it. We hauled it and then had Brian Staunton come over and dig us a whole and get it in the ground.
The girls were mostly excited for the "Family Fun Day" that the Easter Bunny brought. He gave them Bear Mill gift cards, Pirate Island Pizza Tokens and gift card and passes for the Bumper Boats, and Miniature Golf at Fiesta Fun!

Calli & Soccer!

A friend of mine walked up to me the other day and said "so I hear a lot of people in town are mad at Calli." I just looked at her confused thinking why would anyone be mad at Calli. She then said "All I've heard the last few days from my daughter and her friends is - 'Oh, great we have to play Calli's team today', and 'Man, have you played that Calli girl yet? She scored on us 4 times', and 'I hope we don't play Calli today'." I just started laughing. Calli has just started her soccer season. She has played 3 games and has already scored 6 goals. (4 of which were in one game.) She is such a go-getter and so much fun to watch on the field, she has no fear. It doesn't matter if the girl is twice her size (which most of them are) if she wants the ball she'll get it. In her first game Calli was dribbling down the field and had only one defender to get by, the defender was in 8th grade and was huge. Calli didn't even blink she just dribbled faster. As they came up on each other the defender went after the ball and missed, kicking Calli right below the knee. The impact of running so fast and getting kicked to an abrupt stop caused her to do a complete back flip in the air before coming down hard on the grass and rolling a few more times. Her poor little body looked like a rag doll flipping through the air, I thought for sure she was going to be hurt bad. But, she jumped back up and took off again. She doesn't let anything or anyone get in her way. She always gives 110% of everything she does. It's been a fun season so far and I can't wait for the rest. Way to go Calli, I am so proud of you for always getting out there and doing your best, being determined with everything you do and knowing who you are and where you're going!

General Conference!

To prepare the girls for General Conference this year we had a little Family Home Evening the night before. We told them the story of King Benjamin. We told them how people came from all over and set up tents just to come listen to the prophet speak. After the story we pretended to be in King Benjamin's time and we journeyed to the downstairs family room and pitched our own tents (built a hut). Then we slept in it in anticipation of hearing the prophet speak the next morning.
The girls loved it, and thought it was so cool.
(I love when my dumb little ideas actually work out)

The next morning they woke up in their tent and had a "General Conference Basket" waiting for them filled with activities and munchies. But there was catch...

The girls could only eat the munchies if they were listening carefully. On each treat was hooked a word (prophets, family, temples etc. ) everytime they heard that topic they could eat the matching treat. They had a good time and actually listened to the whole first session. But then ...
they figured that was good enough and headed outside for some free time. They did really well, we were proud of them for sitting as long as they did.
