And they are off!!!
Each of the girls gave a treat to the other 25 girls on the team. This is what Sadie gave.
Fusion Pharmacy made these for all the girls! So cute!
We drove to Payson Friday night to watch Austin in his school play of Les Mis. They did a fantastic job. It was really good and "Bring Him Home" made me cry. Mostly because I was thinking about Calli and how much she loves Les Mis and would have loved to have been there.
Saturday...all day 9:00-9:00 was the competition. We stayed at Thanksgiving Point and just had a 20 minute drive to the competition. Besides a break for a couple hours to go eat lunch we were at the comp all day!
This was Sadie's ride for the weekend!
Gentry entertained herself the whole time watching episode after episode of Supernatural.
Before each team takes the floor, they do "Shout Outs" to individuals on that team. Parents, family, friends can pay to have a shout-out announced. They are usually "good luck, we love you etc." We gave Sadie a Shout -Out that said "This shout-out is to Sadie From Spain. Love you Sis" Her whole team said "Awwwwwe" It made me pretty emotional that even though Calli couldn't be there, she was still there rooting her on! Sadie said it made her sad but she loved it!
The first half of the comp they did amazing! They nailed all 4 of their routines bringing home three 1st place and one 2nd. They went into their last routine (Show Cheer) feeling pretty good. To win a state ring you must win Show Cheer, even if you get 1st in all other routines, it really comes down to Show Cheer. Desert Hills came out and did awesome. They were the first team to not drop. We knew right then that we had to have a perfect routine to win. They did great but in the end had a couple of drops.
Award Time! SC placed 4th in Show Cheer and it was devastating. But with their first 3 wins they were still State Champs and could be proud of themselves.
They were all pretty sad.
Sadie took it so hard! She just cried and cried. I think having lost to Desert Hills after being region champs added to the sting. Thank goodness for friends!!

SC Cheer~2018 State Champs!! We'll see what Sadie decides to do next year. If she tries out again, she'll have another shot. Congrats Girls!!! Sadie wanted to ride the bus with her team mates so she headed home and to spend the night at Ally's while we stayed one more night.
We went and visited Stacy and Ben! Trasen and Gentry discovered Stacy's old typewrite and had a ball...
they then soon learned they could make pictures with it too!! What a fun weekend!

Snow Canyon emerged as a powerhouse with first-place finishes in five disciplines at region (show cheer – all girl, Pom, timeout dance, timeout cheer and fight song) held at Maple Mountain High School.
The Warriors then parlayed that success into first-place finishes in the state competition (held at Salt Lake Community College) in timeout dance, timeout cheer and fight song, plus a second in Pom and a fourth place in show cheer – all girl.
“Overall, the southern region teams rocked region and state,” said Kayshia Roemer, coach of the Snow Canyon team. “It was a great weekend for all teams and (they) represented southern Utah with pride.”
At the state competition, Canyon View placed first in show cheer (non-tumbling category) after also winning that category at region.
Desert Hills placed first in show cheer (all girl) at the state competition after taking third in that category at the region competition.
Pine View also did well at state, placing second in show cheer (coed). The Panthers were the region champs in that category.
Those four teams were the only ones from Region 9 to compete in the region and state contests.
