June 10-13th, 2021 Camping in Brian Head with Cains!
We had a rough start with this camping trip. As we were leaving town the truck started pulling weird and shifting rough. Adam thought it might get better once we were on the freeway. It did okay until hills and then we'd start to overheat. We made it just fine until the Brian Head climb. We heated up pretty fast so we pulled over to cool down. We called Ryan and told him if he didn't see us in the next few minutes to come looking for us.
Adam got out and was scoping things out when he saw that we had also lost the tread on one of the trailer tires.
The entire tread came off. We were actually really lucky that it wasn't worse.
At least we had a pretty view while waited.
Adam changing the tire!
Ryan came down to find us in a predicament. He hooked the trailer up to his truck and pulled it the rest of the way up. The truck did better without the weight.
As soon as we were set up, Adam and Ryan got out their matching drones and were racing them around.
Adam got a little too excited and lost control of his drone and crashed it right into Ryan's trailer. It broke into pieces. People say things happen in three's, so we were praying that was it with the mishaps. :)
No fires this year, so Gentry made smores in the trailer on the stove. Worked like a charm.
Look at that smile:) He is in his happy place when camping.
Gentry looks too cute to be camping.
The next morning (Friday) we woke up, ate breakfast and hit the trails. It ended up being a 7 hour ride with stops.
Love when the trails are lined with trees.
Cute little creek!
We stopped at Duck Creek for ice cream and to walk around the cute little village.
Ice Cream Cones and..
Shakes for the win!
After Duck Creek Village, we got back in the machines and drove to the Duck Creek Ice Cave.
It was awesome. The cave was 30 degrees inside. We could feel the temp drop just approaching the cave.
Adam Helping Gentry down in to the cave.
The floor had ice on it and was slick.
Gentry noticing that her lips were purple from the cold. Haha!
Cains and Peterson's out exploring again!
Making our way back out of the cave.
Our matching flags on their first ride together.
After the ice cave, we rode to cascade falls.
We stopped for lunch before hiking to the falls.
Trail Head
The hike was so pretty with so many amazing overlooks and views.
Due to the drought the falls weren't flowing as much as usual, it was more of a trickle:)
Back on the trail we headed to Navajo Lake.
Funny license plate in the parking lot
Back on the trail to head back to camp. As usual we hit a few hairy parts but trudged forward.
Love her riding attire.
Gentry and Charleigh. After our ride, we went back to camp, took showers and waited for Calli and Dallin to get there for the night. (Sadie wasn't able to make it this trip) They got there around 6:00. We ate dinner, played an intense game of Secret Hitler and then around midnight drove to the point of Brian Head to star Gaze.
The sky was so clear and bright.
Milky Way.
Morning wake up call for Gentry. Adam loves to push the bed up as far to the ceiling as it will go with her in it.
Saturday, we spent the day fishing and kayaking at Panquitch Lake.
On our way back, we hit Parowan Canyon.
The Kadadids were out in full force. We could hear them clicking all the way down the trail.
Views of Brian Head. Calli and Dallin headed back home Friday night.
For dinner, we were feeling lazy so Adam, Gentry and I went to the pizza place at the lodge. It was really yummy. After dinner, we met Cains again and went down to the Brian Head Reservoir for more fishing. The fish were jumping like crazy but all we got were bites.
Such a pretty Night! Sunday as we were packing up Adam gunned the razor a little too hard and ran over my shoe basket and ran into the cabinet again...smashing it again. Haha! Oh well! With all of our mishaps, it turned out being a pretty expensive trip, but it was still a blast. So glad that Adam can keep is calm and not get upset about things that could of ruined the trip. We stayed positive and still had fun!
