BYU Game!

Ivins 2nd Ward First Annual BYU game and Fireside
October 8 & 9 2010
We took some of our youth (Laurels, Mia Maids, Teachers and Priests) on a fun overnighter adventure to Provo for a BYU game and a Fireside.  We drove up late Friday night and spent the night at Stephanie's parents home. Girls on the top floor and boys on the bottom.  They next morning we got up and ate breakfast and then headed out.
All the youth and leaders that went.
Our first stop was a "morningside" while looking over the valley. Ryan talked to us about the the pioneers coming into the valley. We could see three different temples from the spot.

Then we went to the Draper Temple and sat across the street on the church lawn and had a speaker (Ryan's uncle) come talk to us about decisions and agency.

After our fireside we drove to Provo and had our own "tailgating" pizza party.

Some of the girls with "Y's" on their cheeks, ready to go to the game
The other three girls enjoying the game. BYU won 24-21.

General Conference!

I love having activities for my girls to do during General Conference to help them sit and listen. This time I did things a little differently and made a "agency game" of out of it. (which I found very interesting since a lot of General Conference was on Agency) They each had their packets that they sat and colored but they also  had a a list of words to listen for: prophet, faith, testimony etc. Each time they heard a word from the list they had a choice to make. They could either pick a treat out of the bowl and eat it or pick a bean out of the bowl and save it.  The treats offered instant gratification while the beans did not.  Once they EACH got 40 beans they could turn them in for a surprise. It was interesting to watch as they made their choices.  It wasn't until the 2nd session on Sunday morning that they got to turn in their beans.
(Gentry's gonna hate me when she's older for posting this picture, but this is sooo Gentry, always in her underwear)

Their surprise...all the makings for Gingerbread Haunted Houses.
Notice General Conference still on in the back ground.

So Spooky!
