September 2024!
Friday Night we had an outdoor movie and Smores.
We watched "Watchers" it was scary but good.
The next day, we all drove down to Vegas to spend the day. I had bought tickets a couple years previously to Cowabunga Bay and we just never used them, so we decided to go down and use them. Sadie, Nick, Gentry and Carter wanted to go shopping, Calli and Levi wanted to go to the Aquarium and Adam and I wanted to go to the Titanic Exhibit. So we all headed down in the morning to do our own things with plans to meet at Cowabunga at 3:00pm.
Tram ride from Mandalay Bay to Luxor!
Luxor
Our boarding pass to the Titanic Exhibit. I love this kind of stuff and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival, you received a boarding pass with a passengers name and information about them on the back. The exhibit then takes through the the journey of the Titanic's maiden journey.
We boarded in third-class! Seeing this hallway have me the chills!
We learned about the third-class accommodations.
Then moved to second and third class.
It was cool to see the differences between the classes.
Letters from a "C Deck" sign.
Actual flooring from the main staircase area.
Replica of the flooring.
The staircase was amazing and beautiful and but the only thing, we couldn't take a picture of. (This pic is from their website)
They had a lot of actual items, and artifacts from the ship and site where it sank. Some were personal items of the passengers and some were items from the ship. So sad but also kind of cool to see.
This bottle still had it's cork and champagne in the bottle.
The next room depicted the night they hit the iceberg...
The deck on the side of the iceberg
Iceberg
It was freezing and less cold then what the passengers had to endure that night which was below 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Most the passengers did not die from drowning, they died from hypothermia.
Passenger quotes, the night the Titanic sank.
The wreckage
These dishes were found in the bottom of the ocean, just like this. The cabinet fell and the wood rotted away leaving the dishes as is.
The biggest piece recovered from the wreckage.
News broke out the following day.
A list of all the passengers and what class they were in, along with how many passengers in each class were saved and how many died.
At the very end, we scanned out ticket with our passenger information on it to find out what happened to our passengers. Adam was a first class women who survived...
Mine was a third class man who died. It really made it real.
At 3:00 we met at Cowabunga Bay. This is the only picture I got because our phones were in the lockers. However, an hour and a half into our fun, a storm rolled in and they made everyone get out for 30 minutes. There was only two hours left before closing at this point so we went and talked to customer service. Where we had only been there for less than two hours they said they'd give us a return ticket after the 30 minutes was up. We decided to stay in line as more and more people were crowding into the little room. While waiting we were witnesses to a huge fight between the staff and a lady that didn't want to wait the 30 minutes. She wanted her refund now, so she could go home. She screamed, yelled, and swore and everyone in the office. The cops came and she continued to refuse to leave without her refund. They denied her, her refund and sent for the paramedics to bring in the wheelchair to take her out. It was crazy. We got our refund and headed out.
We called Brandon, who met us at Raising Canes for dinner before hitting the road.
The sky was showing off, on our ride home.
I guess we'll have to go back in a couple weeks and use our tickets:)
