August

Isaac and Lindee came over for games one night, These 3 are so creative and sure have fun together.

This was a game they made up and were playing in the backyard with glowsticks.

On August 21st parts of the US got a total Eclipse. It was a pretty big event. People travelled from all over to the places where "Totality" would be. It was on the news for weeks. We opted to just stay home and see the eclipse at 80%. From what we've heard it was pretty amazing. These are just a couple cool pictures from social media.
More cool skies!
Sadie borrowed a couple dresses from a friend to try on for Homecoming. Gentry got quite a kick out of this one. For a girl who doesn't like to be the center of attention or have her picture taken she sure strutted her stuff in this dress.

Haha! We laughed pretty hard. Ready for September!

Baptisms, Baptisms, Baptisms

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAM BAM!
Another great week of being a missionary and so many exciting things happening!
Carlos is getting baptized this Saturday in the ocean! So exciting! And one of our resent converts Jose Angel is baptizing him! We also have Manuel Angel who has a date to be baptized for the 23rd and he is a miracle! Let me tell ya! And then uhh most exciting news.......WE ARE BAPTIZING A LITTLE BOY!!! His name is Alejandro and he is 9 years old, both of his parents were converts to the church and were baptized but have been inactive for 4 years! Until the Hermanas found them. We have been teaching them and getting his dad worthy and ready to be able to baptize his son Alejandro so he will be baptized on the 30th of September! I'm so excited and so happy! So many miracles this week!  Spanish is hard as always but getting better and I feel like I have become really good friends with more investigators, some of the ways I have contacted with them though is because of the movie "Rings" and Eminem so don't know how good of a missionary that makes me but it worked! Haha missionary life is so amazing and so fun!  Carlos was having a harder time getting ready for his baptism he was scared of sacrificing things and the commitment he will be making and is scared he will go inactive but that really shows that this means a lot to him. I was able to share with him how I had to sacrifice things for a mission like giving up the opportunity to play for a college soccer team to serve a mission and how even when I got on my mission it was not easy and how my mission has been hard and he knows Spanish has been hard for me haha but how serving a mission and being a disciple of Jesus Christ even though it's so hard is so worth it and so much better! That by being a disciple of Christ I am beyond happy, I see blessings on blessings and I have seen the Lord help me every single day and compared it to his baptism and how on Saturday he will be a disciple of Jesus Christ and bore my testimony to him. I feel like the lessons are more for me than the investigator haha.  Something I have really learned this week is something my dad always told me "life is too short to be anything but happy" and how much of a difference having a positive attitude and just trying makes. Mission life is amazing and so crazy as of right now I'm just kind of rolling with it and letting God do his thing. I have seen so many miracles. This gospel is so true and blesses life's in ways I can't even explain! Especially the Book of Mormon I don't know how it does it but the Book of Mormon converts people like nothing else! I love that book!  My favorite scripture this week was 1 cor 13:1-2
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing
Love you all have a good week!

She had labeled the following pictures as "Some Castle" I then get to do lot's of research to find out more about "the castle" I'm learning lots along the way.
Montjuic is a prominent hill overlooking the Barcelona harbor. For ages it played a strategic role in the defense of the city.

Montjuic Castle built on Montjuic Hill was once a military fortress and dates back to 1640. It is currently a military museum and is also the home to the Magic Fountains

On top of Montjuic Castle.
One of my favorite pics so far!!
Yes, these are real.

They are called Pigeon Racers. Their owners are Pigeon breeders that paint their birds and then send them into flight to impress the females. The bird to get the girl wins.
View of Barcelona from Montjuic.
The Olympic Park is also part of Montjiuc.  The olympics were held in Barcelona in 1992.
Open Camp Sports Theme Park.

This is the first sports theme park in Europe and is located in the Olympic Stadium of Barcelona.

 Barcelona Harbor
Gabriel, Alejandro'a little brother.  He got a hold of Calli's tablet. Alejandro will be baptized on September 30th.
More festival and parades.

It is a very lively country

Vilafranca - Week 4

So this week has been super crazy! With a million things happening!
I thought Spain would be super high class, hahaha....it's not. We can't drink the water or shower to often or our hair will fall out lol.  All part of the adventure, also my legs are always completely covered in bug bites all the time, haha, it's so bad. The other day we were in a bakery and some drunk man said something about my bug bites, I just laughed and said "siempre" and turned around to seconds later I look down and he is bent down rubbing beer on my legs (apparently it helps) I just started trying to like shake him off and Hermana Rockhill was yelling at him haha! We started talking to him and we later got his information, the Lord works it crazy ways! But I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the terrorist attack that happened here on Thursday. Five men drove a car up on the side walk and drove into people while shooting others. It was on the La Rambla in Barcelona, which is always completely full of people, and is about an hour away from me. 14 were killed and 100 were injured and a little boy is missing. So heart breaking. The church immediately  called us to make sure we were ok. All missionaries were accounted for and ok. Some Hermanas were going to go to the La Rambla to make copies but Hermana Dayton (mission presidents wife) had a feeling to call them and tell them not to go. A young American member of the LDS church was in Barcelona on his honeymoon and was killed in the terrorist attack. President Dayton was able to give his wife and others a priesthood blessing last night. So so sad, and hard to believe, Spain has been a little more quiet since the attack. But it has given us so many opportunities to share with others God's plan and the amazing blessing that families can be together forever. One of my favorite things that we have been sharing this last week is the "Prince of Peace" video, which is amazing, and has brought tears to a lot of members and hopefully was what they needed. After the attack I really wanted to go to the La Rambla, just to see what was happening there now and where it happened. Hermana Rockhill thought I was crazy but then she said she wanted to go. So today for preparation day we went to the La Rambla. (Sorry mom)  It was busy with people everywhere like always! I can't imagine what it was like. It was so amazing though, the streets were pretty quiet and EVERYWHERE were flowers and candles and pictures of Christ and people lighting and putting flowers and notes down in the street. But good news for this week WE NOW HAVE 2 BAPTISMS COMING UP WOOHOO!
Carlos and Manuel. Manuel is amazing this was only our second visit with him and he is so ready for the gospel. The Hermana's contacted him on a train and gave him a Book of Mormon. Then we met with him for the first time and he was already in second Nephi and loved it! Also we have Sarah who is 15 and wants to be baptized but her dad will not let her. But so many many blessings here in Spain! My Spanish is coming along more and more everyday. I see God's hand in my life everyday! This gospel is true and it blesses so many lives. Uh, the Book of Mormon is so amazing! It's crazy how the Book of Mormon converts it just has something about it! I know that this is Christ's church and that because of Christ and this gospel we can be with our families and loved ones forever! The gospel is so happy! Love you all, thank you for everything! Sorry this email was more of a sad one but next week will be bomb! Love, Hermana Peterson
-instead of my favorite scripture of the week, here is the video I love we have been sharing with the people of Spain♡
