Scriptures!

This is what nightly scripture study looks like in the Peterson home!

Never a dull moment. For the most part they do pretty well, but once in a while they get antsy and keep themselves entertained while Adam and I take turns reading.  Better than nothing I guess, right?

Calli earned her YW medallion!

Talk about a long but worthwhile road!! Calli set a goal for herself as a beehive to earn her medallion. She was always self motivated and did a lot of it on her own.  By the time she was 16 she had every experience and project done but one...read the Book Mormon! This took her over a year to complete. She was determined to study the heck out of it.  It wasn't enough for her to just read it with the family or seminary or just listen to it. She wanted to really read and study it for herself and she did just that.
On February 7, 2016 she received her medallion in sacrament meeting and then was recognized and gave a talk about it at New Beginnings. Such a HUGE accomplishment! We are so proud you Calli! (She is posing like the song in Son's of Provo "I love the way you wear your young woman medallion. She's been waiting a long time to do that! haha!)

Oh, Gentry!

Found this in Gentry's room. Apparently it is her "snack bucket." It is a gallon sized bucket layered with marshmallows, M&M's, white chocolate dipped pretzels, cocoa puffs, pops, cookie crisp and holiday chocolate chips. She's like a chipmunk getting ready for winter. Haha!

Sadie and Soccer!

Since Sadie's decision to switch from dance to soccer a few months ago she has been working really hard. She practices and scrimmages with the Bombers Crush team twice a week. The coaches are so great to work with her.  I'm so proud of her as I watch her play with and against girls who have been playing their entire lives and she gets out there and with them day after day having only been playing a few months and gives it her all. Up next she will be running SCHS track, going through the acceleration program at Intermountain Health and training with Mucci. She has a long road ahead of her but with her continued confidence and determination I know she can achieve great things. Keep up the great work Sadie Jae!
Jaicelyn and Sadie waiting to sub in!
Gentry just loves a reason to go and play with friends.

Brian Head

January 29-31, 2016
During our annual cabin trip back in July we discussed going to the cabin during the winter. Everyone agreed to try it and we set a date and booked the cabin. We have gone to Brian head every year for 5 years now but always in the summer. This would be our first winter trip.
Our view as we pulled into the cabin Friday night.

The cabin sure looks different with snow piled high.
It didn't take long before the cousins were ready to go out and play in it.
Grandpa and Calli doing snow angels.

Gentry and Jantzyn found a "hill" to sled down.
Look how deep it is?

Some of us decide to go "speed sledding"
Awe, hot chocolate and fire was ready around the clock to warm us up.
There was also plenty of snow for snow cones. Which everyone enjoyed all weekend long.
Friday night after everyone came in for the night we hung out, visited and played games.

 Mosaic, always a fun tradition
Trasen, Jantzyn and Gentry in their pajamas cozy and warm.
Love this picture! Gentry does not enjoy reading, especially for pleasure but she started this (Micheal Vey) book on the way up. She read it off and on all weekend long and finished it when we came home Sunday. I couldn't believe it. I was so proud of her.

  Calli and Talen
That night we celebrated mom's birthday!
We gave her a book that we had been working on for months.
It was one of those projects where you recreate old childhood pictures.
It was a lot of fun and she loved it.
Just a peek at one of the pictures we recreated. The top picture was us kids at Disneyland in 1984 and then the bottom picture is us now recreating it.
We also put balloons with notes on them in the master bedroom for her to find that night.
Ready to catch some zzz's for a fun filled day tomorrow on the slopes.
Tracy, Calli and Jake ready to go.
Most of us were first-timers but these three are veterans and have all their own gear.
Calli heading to her happy place...she loves snowboarding!!

Our family
Gentry and Adam getting fitted for boots.
The adult snowboards were all rented out so Adam and I opted to ski instead.
Gentry and Sadie. "Let's do this"
A few of them found a slide while waiting for everyone to get their gear.
We got our ski's and boards and practiced on the practice hills for a couple hours.

Gentry practicing getting her board on and off.
 Just chilling!
Gentry decided to use her snowboard as a sled.
Jake, Tavin and Calli
It was so fun begin able to watch Calli.
I had never seen her snowboard before other than video's. She is amazing.

Adam really got the hang of it quick and ended up LOVING it.
He's already talking about season passes.
He was so funny though, when he wrecked, he wrecked hard!!! Usually losing both ski's in the process.

Gentry, Jantzyn and I waiting for the lift.

As for myself, I soon discovered that I hated falling because getting up was so hard. It always took me several tries to finally pull myself up, so the rest of the day I spent doing whatever it took it just stay on my feet. I took it nice and slow and just coasted.
Sadie did awesome! She picked it up really quick and had a ball just going up and down with cousins. I had a hard time finding her to take pictures.
She said that Snowboarding is her new favorite thing.
Sadie and I on the lift.
 Hanging out at the bottom.
 Calli & Talen
Grandma, Grandpa and Terry watching!
Gentry was the one that surprised me the most. She was a little die hard.  She went up and down just as many times as the teenagers.

Just before time ran out Gentry really wanted to go up one more time but everyone was getting done, so Calli took her up. It was so cute watching them come down together.
After while still waiting for everyone they went and found a hill to play on.

Then Calli walked her over to the lodge to turn in her gear. Pulled at my heart strings watching them. Overall, everyone had a fantastic time. I think we definitely turned the girls into snow bunnies. They're already asking when we can go again. I think if the cousins had to choose summer or winter at the cabin they would choose winter.
That night everyone crashed. This is how I found Bo the next morning!
It started snowing at 4:00pm Saturday and continued all night.
We woke up to 6 more inches. I dreaded this moment all weekend and was anxious to drive home in it.

But with it not supposing to let up all day we thought it was best just to hit the road. We said a family prayer that the roads would be clear and everyone would make it down safely.
Snow packed roads in front of the cabin.
Pushing Terry's van out of the driveway.
Family Caravan down the mountain. About halfway down the mountain the roads cleared up and were clear all the way home. It was such a blessing. What a fun weekend we had. Who knew that these desert rats could actually turn into snow bunnies!!
