With the devastation in Santa Clara caused by a dike breaking and flooding over 30 homes on September 11, 2012, the youth in our ward had an opportunity to go and volunteer with the clean-up. It was very overwhelming seeing the devastation. It is so much worse going down there in person then what you see on the news but at the same time it is so moving to see the community pull together. There were some days they had over 2000 volunteers showing up to help out. Students from Snow Canyon High School didn't feel right sitting in class on Wednesday when their friends and neighbors were in the need of so much help, so they excused themselves and showed up in huge numbers during school hours to help. Food and water was constantly being donated and taken around to all the families and volunteers. It was a very emotional experience, one I'm so glad me and my girls got to share.

As I went around to dump a bucket I noticed a lady that I recognized getting ready to walk into the house that we were volunteering at. I hollered at her and asked her if this was her home and she said yes. It was my cousin Mark Losee's mother-in laws home. I told her who I was and we chatted for a minute. She also worked at the chocolate factory and so she knew my mom and Adam's family as well. I couldn't believe that out of all the homes we could have ended up at that night we ended up at hers. She was so overwhelmed with gratitude.

As we were getting ready to leave we all grabbed one more bucket to carry out with us and as we went to dump them we noticed the news truck and cameras. That night we turned on the news and there was Calli with a few a the youth from our ward. She thought that was pretty cool!
