Catch Up

When did May get just as busy as December?
Well, with just a crazy and busy last two weeks of school I haven't had time to blog. So here for you're viewing pleasure are 8, yes 8 new posts...Enjoy!

Star light, Star Bright....

All those times my girls wished on a falling star or blew out their birthday candles they were always wishing for the same thing. Well, they finally learned that wishes really do come true. ...they got a puppy!
Our dog Cowboy was hit by a car almost three years ago and since then they have been hoping, praying, wishing, asking and begging for a new dog.. We finally gave in. We found the perfect dog for our family through the Paws adoption center, but before we could adopt him we had to get the rest of our yard fenced in.
New walls and new gates. Yeah!!!
The girls knew that as soon as the gates were in we could bring him home.

They were so excited they sat in the driveway waiting for Adam to pull up with their new puppy.....
Here his is, our new family addition. His name is Troy and he is 4 months old. He is a half Lab- half Collie and totally trained. He is such a cute dog. He is great with the girls and gets so excited
to play with them. Since he has come to our family we can hardly go anywhere with out him. As soon as we open the car door he jumps in and sits down. Everything the girls do,
Troy is not far behind... Here's Calli reading a book to Troy out on the back porch.
And here are the girls loving, hugging and playing with their new best friend. The girls have repeatedly said "This is the best day of my life!"

Our Sport's Chick!

Calli is one of those lucky people that loves to do it all and is good at what she does. Calli was too old to play Ivins softball this year so we signed her up on a St. George team with her cousin Jorrin. This is the first time they have played together on a team. They are so much fun to watch. Calli and Jorrin are the teams pitchers. This was Calli's first time pitching...but of course it came very natural to her and she had a great game. She threw quite a few strikes, got a few outs and even hit a home run. You just keep amazing me Calli!

Pine Valley + Family = FUN!!!

Losee Family Fun at Pine Valley!
Because my entire family has 9:00 am church, (except for my brother Kevin and his family who live in Payson...missed you guys) we like to have Sunday Family get together's and go to parks, Zions, and Pine Valley.
We all took something for a big Pot Luck Lunch
and then played games hung out and visited
played more games, had a little Jump Rope Competition between cousins

Gathered pine cones and played in the dirt
and what's a family gathering without a good game of Pine cone tag...ouch!
All the great grand kids saying goodbye to their great Grandma (my Grandma) Kendall. I love my family. I love living so close to all my brothers and sisters (except for Kevin and Jen and their kids, again, missed you guys). I love that my kids have so many cousins and that they love to hang out with each other.

A lesson learned!

The girls and I were over at my mom's house and they thought it was so funny to doorbell ditch. They kept ringing the doorbell and running and hiding. Well, the next time they did it, my mom was ready, she went running after them getting half way around the house before catching Gentry. She called to the other two and said "I've captured one of you're own you better come out and get her." When they came out of hiding my mom asked in her best evil voice "You better tell me your names if you want your friend back." Calli remembering the talks we have had about not telling strangers your real name, quickly said "Nicki", then Sadie thought she'd do the same and said "Potty'' and then Gentry joined in by saying her name was "Bob." We laughed and laughed. I guess one out of two isn't too bad. Needless to say, we had another discussion on the matter and thought up some "believable names" they would be able to remember.

Civil War Unit

The year Calli started kindergarten we were already looking forward to her having Mark Powell in the 5th grade. My mom worked with Mark Powell for years and years at Dixie Downs Elementary, so when he transferred to Red Mountain my mom constantly said "you've got to get Mark, he does an amazing unit on the Civil War." Well, the moment we waited for finally came...Calli got Mr. Powell and got to be a part of the Civil War.
From Spring break on Mr. Powell's class does their Civil War unit. Calli tried out to be a General and got the part. She was General Ulysses S. Grant over the Yankee Troops. Everyday, they would dress out and spend the day marching, doing drills, learning about the Civil War and the soldiers way of life. It was so fun to pop in her classroom and hear her calling out orders to her troops, boy, did she get into it. General Ulysses S. Grant

For their year-end event they made a video of the Civil War called "The Ballard of two brothers" about two brothers that fought on opposites sides. The story was narrated through the point of view of the brothers two dogs Gunner and Little Missy. Again, Calli tried out for the part of Little Missy's voice and got it. This unit was the highlight of Calli's 5th grade year, something she will always remember and take with her. Thank you Mr. Powell for such a great year!

5th Grade Graduation & Give Me Liberty!

During the year-end assembly at school they had a 5th grade graduation where the 5th graders marched in with the graduation song playing and their teachers handed them a diploma. It was an emotional moment I was not prepared for. I suddenly realized my oldest is leaving elementary. I had a hard time fighting back the tears.

Give Me Liberty!

This is an amazing program that the 5th graders do throughout the year. They work on memorizing and passing off: The Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, the President's of the United States in order, the States, Capitals and their location, the Continents and Oceans, a portion of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Symbols of the Flag, the United States and Utah, and the entire Gettysburg Address. It is a huge undertaking and huge accomplishment for these 5th graders. Everyone that passes off at least 6 gets a T-shirt and everyone that passes off all 12 get a trophy. I was on the Give Me Liberty Board this year and worked one on with with a lot of the kids. I saw how hard they worked and how dedicated you have to be get all 12.

Out of 120 students only 16 received a trophy....

Calli was one of the 16. She worked so hard from August to May to be one that passed them all off.

Big accomplishment = Big Trophies!
I got to design and order the trophies this year, so of course Calli got to help me choose what she thought everyone would like.
Way to go Calli-We are so proud of you!

Days of Camelot!

Days of Camelot was a big event at the Fair grounds May 22-23.
They had live chess, jousting, a royal feast, a royal wedding, booths, food etc.

Matt (the director from Dickens) was in charge of finding street performersfor the event, so he called upon his entire cast from Oliver and Scrooge. They had rehearsals twice a week for a couple months, where they learned songs, jokes, skits, and how to mingle with the crowd.
Calli was a jester where she had to walk around and mingle, tell jokes and play a number game with the crowd. Sadie was a princess and flower girl. She too mingled with the crowd, was a flower girl at the wedding and had skipped around singing the "Lance-a-lot is getting fat" song.
They also marched in a procession line with the entire cast singing songs as they led the guests to the royal feast.

Once there, they welcomed each guest as they walk through with claps and curtsy's.

Here is Sadie and Calli with their cousins Kassi and Talen doing a skit. They had a lot of fun and it was a good experience for them.

BRIAN REGAN!!

Here in the Peterson home, we LOVE Brian Regan. It is not unusual to hear my girls reciting lines from Brian Regans DVD's and CD's. On a daily basis we hear things like..."Take Luck, You Too", "It's a cup of dirt", "Where was you, where was you at", "and no more happiness."and "I was wishing on a star"
Every incident can usually be taking care of with a line from Brian Regan.
So when we heard that he was coming to Tuacahn we jumped on the opportunity. We bought our tickets back in December. He sold out the first show within days and added two more shows and sold those out too. I hope he will realize how much we "Southern Utahns" love him and will come back again.
Needless to say it was HiLaRiOuS! They had a guy named Kermit come out as an opening act, he was so funny...I was wiping tears before Brian even came out. But as soon as he walked on stage he had everyone laughing. He had all new material with just a few previous jokes. The best part about Brian Regan are his actions and facial expressions. He can make people laugh without even saying anything. Adam and I were laughing so hard non stop for 2 hours that our stomachs hurt and by the end of the night all my mascara had disappeared with my laughing tears. Man, it felt good to just sit back, relax and belly laugh. That's what you call good medicine.
