Super Bowl Party!

Okay, so I actually had to look up on the Internet to see who was playing, but I'll find any reason to have a party. I usually only watch the Superbowl for their commercials. But as it turned out the game was really good. It was a very close and intense game with some awesome plays. I had pulled out a bunch a card games for those that didn't want to watch the Superbowl, but it was such a great game everyone watched. We were all going for the Cardinals because they were the underdogs. It was a bummer that they didn't win but we still had a blast!

G is for Gentry and Gymnastics!

Gentry is our little timid and stubborn child. If she doesn't want to do something, or talk to someone or... go to primary, she won't. So we started talking about some things she would want to do (hopefully, to help her come out of her shell and also to bribe her to go primary.) She said she wanted to try gymnastics. So we went and checked it out and she got really excited. I crossed my fingers and signed her up. We told her that in order to go to gymnastics each Wednesday, she has to go to primary on Sunday. So the next Sunday, she sprinted to primary. Holy cow, I couldn't believe it. I was still a little hesitant as to how she would react to going into gymnastics by herself, but again she surprised me. She could hardly wait. She had her gymnastics outfit on as soon as she got up that morning, and after about 100 times of asking "is it time?" we took her to her first gymnastics class. She ran right in, talked to her coach and did everything the class was doing. I was so proud her. It has now been a couple weeks and she is still active in Primary and loves her gymnastics class. These are pictures from her Parents Day Performance.

Sadie...What's more to say!

So this happened a few months ago, but again I blog faster than I scrapbook and fear if I wait til then, I will forget. For Sadie's 8th birthday all she wanted was her ears pierced. So the day before her birthday, we took her in to Claires. As soon as we walked in she was nervous. We casually started to look for earrings and let her take her time. After a while she climbed in the chair, as soon as the lady tired to move her hair so she could clean her ears she freaked out, started screaming and ran out of the store. Adam went out to talk to her, finally convincing her to come back in. This happened two more times, before we said "Last chance." So she climbed up in the chair again, and got teary eyed. At this point Calli said I'll do it if you do it. (Now, Calli has had her ears pierced once before and felt they were to girly for her and let them grow in, I thought it was so sweet that she would offer to do it again for her sister.) Sadie agreed and told her to go first. Calli climbed in the chair and got her ears pierced. Sadie then climbs back into the chair, this time she let the lady clean her ears and put the marks on, but as soon as she saw that gun come out she was done again. Now normally Adam and I would have taken her to the car and left but we knew how bad she wanted them and how scared she really was, so we tried to be patient. As Sadie climbed in the chair again, Gentry said "I'll do it." We don't let our girls get their ears pierced until they are eight, but we really didn't think she would go through with it, so we said okay. Gentry climbed up in the chair hugged the Teddy Bear and closed her eyes. Two minutes later she had cute pink earrings in her ears. We couldn't believe it. Sadie decided to try it one more time. This time screaming so loud, and trying to jump out the chair while Adam held her that she kicked the gun out of the lady's hand. Needless to say at that point we left. Now you would think that the story ends here but no, we were dumb enough to take her back the next day and try it again. Well, it ended up that Calli and Gentry got their ears pierced for Sadie's Birthday! Oh well, Maybe next year.

Happy 2009!

Happy New Year!
We had our big annual New Years party at our house again! Between Adam's family and my family we had a houseful. We had about 50 people, 20 adults and 30 kids. Talk about a wild party.
We ate and ate and ate...
We played games...
We played Rock Band and the Wii...
Rode Wiggle cars...
And at Midnight, we celebrated!
Here's wishing everyone a fabulous 2009!
On New Years Day we headed back to Pirate Islands Pizza.

New Years Family Home Evening!
We made a "Peterson Family Time Capsule" We filled it with pictures, new year resolutions and memorbilia and buried it. (in my closet) until January 2010. We pray that 2009 will be just as great as 2008 was for us, and that we can all be healthy and happy when we open it next year.
