After making it past the season as region champs Snow Canyon advanced on to play in the playoffs. Our first game was a home game against Juan Diego. A team that they have played before in the past and have always had to fight hard. They wanted this win very bad.
It was a very intense game but Snow Canyon came away with the win 1-0.
The fans rushed the field to congratulate the team.
This advanced them forward to play in the semifinal game against Wasatch in Jordan.
Snow Canyon Girls Soccer.
During one of their team meetings, Coach McKenna said that he would cut off his pinkies if they won State.
So after winning this game and advancing on they all held up their pinkies in Victory.

During the week they did lots of team nights, movie nights and lunches together.
Thursday the entire team had practice that morning and then was back to the school for a quick bite to eat and to get on the bus by 1:00 pm.
Calli and Jadyn heading the bus.
The bus getting ready to leave.
We followed them up a few hours later.
Snow Canyon Team on the Bus. They stopped in Provo in eat at the Brick Oven and then went to their hotel for a team meeting and to get some sleep before the big game the next day. Calli roomed with Lydia, Christy and Amanda. Each night Coach Kunde would come around and gather up phones so they would actually sleep. Calli texted us when they were to the hotel and ready for bed. We were around Payson.

The next morning was another intense game against Wasatch who the leaders on the board. Again, Snow Canyon came away with the win 1-0. The defense including Jadyn was amazing. They helped Grace get another shut-out. To say we were all excited was an understatement. WE WERE HEADING TO RIO TINTO FOR THE FINAL GAME.

Running through the student tunnel.
Calli and Jadyn after the game. The team left on the bus for dinner and some fun that night.
They ended up at a BYU women's soccer game where they got on the big screen and were given a big shout out. Soo cool!
While Calli and the team were off playing, we went and had some fun too. We were staying at Stacy's house so we paled around with them all weekend.
Adam had to go get a part from Kevin at work, so he took us on a tour of the Cover star Factory. It was pretty cool. The kids playing on a pool cover that was being tested. I think it will hold up to the weight factor.

After the tour and some dinner we met up with Terry and his family and went shopping a bit. Then we went to "The Haunted Village." Kassi and Sadie in line nervous to go in.
It is set up at the "This is the place monument" where you walk through 11 different little cabins and in and out of forests. It was pretty fun. Not too scary but enough to make you scream and jump.

Gentry was pretty nervous though and stayed in either my arms or Adams the entire time.

We made it out alive.
At the end we ran into a group of sister missionaries that had just gone through as well. Kassi, Gentry and Sadie got their pictures with them.
On our way home we swung by the new Amberlyn Chocolate Factory and checked it out.
It was a lot bigger than the one had been in St. George.
Big Bertha. The wrapping machine from St. George.
We fell into bed late that night. The next morning we woke to this text from Calli.
"Mom we just skyped with President Monson" what?! I had to call her right then and get the story.
One of her teammates Lauren Mitchell's mom is a nurse to President Monson. Her parents were in Germany with him and so Lauren was skyping with them before the big game. When she said "hold on someone wants to talk to you." The entire team gathered around as President Monson got on. (You can see Calli's eye in the left side corner) He asked them what they were doing and they said playing for state in soccer. He said "Show no Mercy and good luck!" Talk about an amazing opportunity. We teased that there was no way Snow Canyon could lose this game with the prophet on their side.
The team ate breakfast and headed to the stadium early to practice.
We weren't too far behind them.
Getting to the Rio Tinto Stadium. I was in heaven. I've been wanting to come here to watch a game. Crazy that my first game was to watch my daughters team play for State.
Adam and I in our seats waiting for the game to start.
Calli with the team down on the field practicing.
Some of the kids were given special permission to go down on the field and shag balls. They took turns with a lot of the kids that were there to watch. This is Sadie down on the field taking her turn.
Sadie and Kassi getting ready to cheer.
Snow Canyon had a good group there. Our cheering section was about as big as Park City's.
We had great support from the family. My mom and dad and my brothers and sister came with their families.
Some of the cousins.
Brandon decided he wanted to go cheer from the other side. So he wandered over.
Both teams and the refs out on the field for the national anthem.
The teams getting ready to be introduced.
Snow Canyon VS Park City
Usually before the start of a game only the starting varsity players get announced, but for this game they introduced all 30 players. It was super fun!
Getting all syked up for the game.
The final cheer.
They played a great first half and was playing hard. By half time the score was still 0-0.
With 9 minutes left to play in the game we were given a pentaly kick.
Sarah Henerson took the shot.
And it's IN...The entire stadium errupted. We cheered, and laughed and cried.
The team piling on Sarah.
It was such an exciting moment. But now they had 9 minutes to hold them off.
Calli holding up her pinkies with Addy Smith as the final minutes tick by. This was the longest 9 minutes of my life. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....WE WON!

The team rushing the players.

There was a huge celebration on the field.

Were' # 1. It was fun to look around and see the parents overjoyed and most of them crying tears of joy.

Singing Happy Birthday to KJ. The team has dedicated this entire season to KJ Harrison. Every game they play for him. This final game just happened to be on his birthday. They won it for him. Later in a newspaper interview Sarah mentioned how KJ was with them the entire way, especially during this last game during one play when Park City took 2 consecutive shots at the goal with both of them hitting the post and bouncing off. I don't think the crowd exhaled for an entire minute after that. She said that it was KJ just batting those balls away as fast as he could. It was a very tender moment.

Each game they write KJ along with others they are playing for on their wrists and hands. With getting the very sad news about another classmates death that day they also played for Whitney Webb.

Calli and Jadyn came with us instead of riding home with the team. We all went to dinner to celebrate.
The waitress made these crowns for them.
In celebration, the team was honored in a parade during school.
We also had the year end banquet. Which was a great night full of dinner, videos and awards.

It was given to coach Kunde who asked all the girls to sign it.

Their sign that will be hung at the Snow Canyon Stadium.
I can't even put into words what an amazing experience this has been for Calli. I am so excited for her to have been given this opportunity and to be loving her high school years. The girls are such good, good girls and the coaches are fantastic. Calli comes home from practices and games all the time and says "We said like eight prayers today." They pray as a team in the locker room before the game and then have individual prayers. Then they pray on the field before the games, at half-time and after the game. They even have a scripture this year that they quoted D&C 104:82 "And inasmuch as you are humble and faithful and call upon my name, behold, I will give you the victory." Only in Utah, right? Calli has grown so much this year, physically, emotionally and spiritually. She has learned the importance of being dependable, having integrity and that hard work pays off. We are already looking forward to next year!
