The Couch

In pure Peterson style, we managed to make the simple task of buying a couch into a huge ordeal…
We had been looking for a new couch to replace the one in our theater room that we had had for 25 years. It was the first purchase Adam and I made together right after we were married. When we found this one at Costco it was just what we were looking for and in our price range. Being a Thursday and just stopping in, we didn’t have a trailer so we planned on going back on Saturday, just two days later to pick it up.
Kinda sad to see it go, but it was time.
We were able to get the first two pieces down the stairs without too much trouble but when it came to moving the piece with the two recliners, it proved to be quite difficult.
We had gotten it upstairs 15 years prior so we figured we could get it down but with the narrow stairwell, sconce on the wall, handrail and banister there were a lot of obstacles. We tried lifting, pivoting, twisting and turning with no luck…
So we did the next logical thing…we cut it in thirds.
Worked like a charm and I was actually really surprised I wasn’t more upset about it:)
As Adam was cutting, I remember asking him “what if the couch is gone, when we get there!” We just laughed…

As we cut the couch up we found the “orange juice incident of 2006” haha! When Gentry was three years old she was carrying around a can of orange juice concentrate, looking for me to make it for her but somewhere along the way she got distracted and set it on top of the couch. It feel down inside the recliner, where it stayed until we found it due to the smell coming from the couch haha!
Much easier to move it in pieces.
With the couch now in 6 pieces instead of 3 we headed to JPS to dump it before heading to Costco. You can imagine our surprise when we got to Costco to find the couch had already been sold. It took us a minute to collect ourselves as we realized we had just cut up our couch and put it in the dumpster and now there was not a couch to bring home. We went and talked to customer service where they told us we could still order it online but it would cost us $800 more for shipping and delivery. We decided to give it the week to think about it. We had already looked at several places in town and had never found anything close to what we were looking for so we had almost resulted in just paying the extra...I'm sure glad we didn't. We had told a friend at work about our couch incident and they sent us to Downtown Furniture. Somewhere we had not looked yet and Adam actually knew the owner.
We walked in and I knew we were going to find our couch. Every sectional was just like the one in Costco where it came in 6 pieces so we could arrange it however we would like. But they had a huge selection to choose from. I narrowed it down to two and then chose this one.
We also found this bar that we fell in love with for the theater room too. We got both for the price of the Costco couch. Score!!
They delivered it two days later and I am in love!!
It has 3 automatic recliners=heaven
The bar!
It was the perfect addition to the room. I had so much fun rearranging and moving things around until everything was just right!

We have found ourselves going up stairs just to hang out even when there's not a movie or a game on!
That same night, after we got it all set up BYU played. We loved kicking it in the new and improved theater room and enjoying the game. So glad that the Costco couch was gone when we went to get it, even though we were distraught at the time, because an even bigger and better couch came along, with it's accompanying bar. Tender Mercies. Another testament that God's knows more and better than we do.
So Blessed!

Labor Day Weekend and BYU Game at Allegiant Stadium

This was seriously one of the best weekends, from start to finish, beginning with Friday and going clear through Monday. Friday Night, Mati got here from Provo so the crew came over for munchies and games. Although, it had been so long since we saw him, we mostly just sat around and visited.
Saturday Morning, Calli, Mati and Levi got up early and went rappelling.
Sadie, Adam and I drove in to meet them and watch.

That view though...
All three at the bottom after their rappel.

Hanging out on top.

Didn't take long for Mati to talk Sadie into doing it.

Giving her a lesson

She was a natural.
Calli and Levi belaying the rope
I couldn't let the young ones show us up so I took a turn as well.
It had been a while but Mati was a great teacher.
Mati's Turn
Levi's Turn. He does canyoneering a lot so he had all sorts of tricks up his sleeves.
Chatting at the bottom. It was a great start to our day.
Around 2pm we ALL loaded into the car to head to Las Vegas. The girls insisted that we all drive together. We had 8 people in an 8 person car. We were cozy but had a blast.
Mati was happy with the treat bag.
Calli cuddling with Levi and Mati cuddling with Calli. Haha!
I love Levi's expression in this one. We pulled into Vegas and went straight to the outlets. Gentry wanted to do some more school clothes shopping.
After shopping, we went to Raising Canes. This was Adam and I's first time. Everyone else had been before.
You would have thought we were on the BYU campus. The entire restaurant was full of BYU fans.  At one point they all started chanting "BYU, BYU" It was so funny. Who knew mormons loved Raising Canes so much! After eating,  we all headed to Allegiant Stadium around 5:30pm. We wanted plenty of time to walk around and see the stadium.
We all got excited as we approached.

Masked up and walking through security
Grass field outside that they can rotate with the turf field inside...unreal!
It was massive.
Quick pic of our crew before heading in.

Home of the Raiders
The stadium even had escalators and elevators.
Love this picture of Calli and Levi telling the paparazzi, "no more pictures please"
It was incredible.
Completely indoors and air conditioned.

Found our seats on the 50 yard line.

After we found out seats and hung out for a minute, we decided to go walk around and check out this amazing venue.

Peristyle Club and tribute torch. This is the only club open to the public. It was pretty impressive.

There was a bar encircling the torch
Looking out the huge windows to the strip.

My Crew!!

Let's Go!
A few minutes into the game BYU player, Keenan Ellis was injured and taken off the field in a stretcher. It was pretty scary.
Team and coaches gathered around
This is how Mati looked through the entire game. This was his first time in a real stadium.

For the halftime show both bands came out and performed. It was awesome!

Zach Wilson also made an appearance. The crowd went wild. Also, to kick off the game, Rudy Ruettiger carried the BYU flag out. So that was cool too!
Our Crew, with grandma and grandpa. Brandon came a bit later.

My kiddos. The girls love calling Mati a brother and had to get a "sibling" pic.
It was great game with BYU taking the “W”
He was taken to a trauma center and quickly began to improve and made a full recovery.
Leaving the game and stadium. It was around 1:30 am Utah time. We pulled into town around 3:30am. What a fun, full day!!
Sunday, after church...and naps, the crew came over again for pizzas. Love having my kitchen full of my family.
After dinner, we watched the new Disney's Cruella, ate dessert and played games.
Sadie braiding Mati's man bun.
It was another fun, late night. Monday, I didn't have to work, it felt good to sleep in. Adam went in but then was off by 9:00am. He took a quick nap before the Labor Day festivities began. Calli wasn't feeling well, Mati and Austin headed back to Provo and Levi was with Calli, so the rest of us went to a movie. Then had a BBQ and played corn hole and games. It was a practically perfect in every way weekend, full of family, food, football and fun! Love my Crew!
