Quick Soccer Trip!

Calli and the Snow Canyon Girls Soccer Team had a couple out of town Pre-season games over the weekend. On Friday they played Alta and on Saturday they played Juan Diego. Both teams are great teams. Alta is a 5A team that has won the State Title in their division like 8 times in a row and Juan Diego is a school that is in our division and a great team as well. We usually play them every year during the play-offs.
Friday morning at 7:00am the team met at the school and loaded on the bus.

Calli loves these trips and has so much fun. It's such a great way for these girls to really bond and get to know each other better. Calli and Hannah making the most of their bus ride.

They got to Draper with plenty of time before the games so they ate and went shopping to entertain themselves for a while. Calli, Hannah and Ashley Jensen.  Calli's roommates this trip were Smity, Morgan, and Mishayla.  Adam and I checked the girls out of school around 10:00 am and got there in time for the games. Again, Calli played in all 4 games. She played about half of the Varsity games and the entire JV games.

For the JV games Calli was one of the Captains. (Showing off her Captain badge she wears on her sock for the games.)

Calli and some of her team mates.
While waiting for cousins to come to the game, Gentry entertained herself quite well.

Alta won both the JV and the Varsity. But Coach Kunde said he would rather have the team go up against powerhouse teams and lose then to play easy teams and have the score reversed. These games challenge them and teach them so much. After the game the team climbed on the bus to go eat and play. We went and played as well. We took Sadie and Gentry and went with Stacy's family to Trafalga.
The kids had fun doing glow in the dark miniature golf,

Going on rides,

Getting wet on the bumber boats, doing the climbing wall and laser tag. We got back to Stacy's late Friday night and crashed. The next morning we got up bright and early for another round of games.

The team praying before the game.
Calli played half with Varsity and then the entire game of JV without coming out once. You could tell by the end of it she was beat. She was pretty pale and shaky so Adam grabbed her a Gatorade before the team headed out.
The coaches talking to the team after the game.
The Varsity Team came away with the win over Juan Diego.

Calli saying hi to her cousins who came to watch before loading the bus.

The team heading home. Calli wanted to ride the bus home with the team, so we got on the road as well.  It was a quick, up and back trip but we are so glad we went...we haven't missed a game yet!

Scripture Stories...LIVE!

One night while having family scripture study, the story of the Good Samaritan came up. As we were getting ready to recap the story, Sadie proclaimed "Let's act it out" Okay, Calli you be the Traveler, Gentry you be the Narrator and the donkey, and I'll be the Levite that's walks past and the Good Samaritan."
Gentry telling the story in her cup so it echos and makes it louder for all to hear.
Sadie helping the robbed and beaten traveler up.

The Good Samaritan putting the traveler on his donkey to give him a ride to the inn. They actually did a pretty god job, I was impressed how well they knew the story. Nothing like a improve night of Scriptures!...actually, I think they were just trying to take up more time because it was bedtime.

Sadie's Funnies!

#1 - Sadie came home from hanging out with Jaicelyn at a Snow Canyon football game one night and came up to be with a concerned look and said:
Sadie: "Mom, what does flawless mean?"
Me: "Well, it means perfection. Something that has no flaws...why?"
Sadie: "Because one of the high school cheerleaders came up to me and said 'You're Flawless'"
I just started laughing. She had no idea whether this cheerleader had given her a compliment or an insult and had probably been worrying about it the entire game.

# 2 - Sadie is always imitating or impersonating someone. She has such a fun personality. I always say that if she wasn't my daughter she'd be someone I'd want to hang out with but probably wouldn't be cool enough too. One of her impersonations is a you tube character named "Miranda Sings"  She is SPOT-ON when she does it.  It's is so funny and always makes me laugh. It has become such a common thing now that I don't even thinks she realizes when she's doing it. She does the face expressions, the voice, her stink eye and her personality ALL the time.  Well, the other night we were reading scriptures and we got talking about the 10 commandments. When we got to Thou shalt not covet, they asked what that meant so I said "It means you can't want something that your neighbor has, his house, his car or even their spouse...without missing a beat Sadie leans forward and looks at Adam as Miranda and raises and lowers her eyebrows at him. It was so funny. I about died laughing. Every time she shows me a new Miranda video I laugh and laugh but I haven't decided yet if Miranda is actually that funny or if it's funny because I can see Sadie doing it.

First Game of the Season!

My favorite time of year...Soccer Season. I love soccer season. I get so excited on game days. I love wearing my Snow Canyon Soccer shirts, I love going to the games, I love sitting in our chairs on the top of the bleachers with Adam and lots of family and I love watching Calli play,  These are the days I live for.
Calli had three pre-season games the weekend that school started. On Friday they played JV and Varsity against East High. (A 4A school from up north) On Saturday they had a scrimmage against Timpview.
Doing their team cheer before the start of the game.
("Whose house...our house...whose house...our house")

Lining up to shake hands with the players before the start of the game.
Calli started as a JV player and played almost the entire game minus a few minutes for a drink break. She had an AMAZING game, probably one of the best I've seen. She played hard and fierce. She had a few great goal kicks, a great corner kick and was inches from scoring a goal with a header off of a corner kick. She's hoping t play both JV and Varsity this year. It's so fun to watch her play JV because it allows her a chance to step up and be a leader on the team, it allows her tons of playing time and opportunity's that she could only get on JV. But, she also wants to play on Varsity and to challenge herself and learn from the older girls as well. Well, the coaches must have liked what they saw because during the break between the JV and  Varsity games, Coach Kunde told Calli to go warm-up with Varsity. She ran by us and gave us a thumbs up, it was so funny.  She anxiously hung out on the sidelines waiting to see if they were going to put her in. As the game progressed it got very intense and physical. As Adam and I watched from the stands we thought it's okay if Calli doesn't play this game, it's getting pretty rough out there. Well... Sure enough during the second half with 25 minutes left to play they put her in and left her in.
Calli's first Varsity Game of the Season!
She said she was so nervous, but you'd never know it. She got out there and fought hard. Actually getting slammed to the ground by the opposing team and drawing the foul. She came away with several bumps, scraps and bruises but as happy as can be.
I think it's going to be a great Season!
Gentry and Jantzyn had fun playing on the field during half-time.

The teams traditional run after each game.
Next up, away games next weekend at Alta and Juan Diego.

Back to School!

First Day of School !
2013-2014
 Callister Lynn
Snow Canyon High School
Sophomore
15 1/2 years old
Before School:  She was a little nervous about being the youngest in the school this year. She was worried about having classes with Juniors and Seniors and just hoped to have classes with friends. She said "I don't even care if I have all mean teachers as long as I have friends in there."  She feels better knowing that she is ahead of the game already having 30 friends from the soccer team.
After School: She came home happy. She liked all her classes and teachers and knew at least one person in every class. She has one of her best friends Graccie in three of her classes.  And she actually ended up liking having Juniors and Seniors in her classes because in art she only knew Grace who is a Senior and on her soccer team. In body toning there are quite a few from the team in this class so that will be fun as well. The best part of her day was leaving campus and going to lunch with Jorrin and a bunch of the Eshelles. They went to Wendy's where most of the school ended up. Overall, she had a great first day.
Sadie Jae
Lava Ridge Intermediate School
7th Grade
12 1/2 years old
Sadie heading into the school.
Before: She was very excited to be the queen of the castle this year as a big 7th grader. She was a little nervous that she would have mean teachers and was sad to find out she doesn't have any classes with Jaicelyn this year. But luckily, she is a social butterfly and will make friends quickly. After School: She too came home happy. She said that school was good and then said "well actually it was pretty fun" She has a friend in each class and was happy that her and Jaicelyn have lunch together. She was also glad to find out that one of the teachers she thought was going to be mean was actually really nice.  The only negative thing she had to report was that she already has a book report due next month. Overall, she had a great day too.
Gentry Bo Peterson
Red Mountain Elementary
4th Grade: Teacher-Mrs. Lord's
9 1/2 years old
Gentry already finding friends!
Before School: Not happy about having to wake up early again but so excited for her class. The only thing she isn't excited about this year is as a 4th grader they no longer get to play on the playground. But on a positive note, she is thrilled about her teacher and she is also soooo excited to finally have Hallee in her class plus a darling group of girls that all became friends last year are all in the same class this year. She is going to have a fantastic year!
After School: She had a great day, just like she thought she would. She loves Mrs. Lord's and was happy to report that Hallee is on her same table. She had a great time with her friends and great day as well.
Well 3 out of 3 is pretty darn good...I will count my blessing!

More Cute Pic's from the first week.
On Friday, Calli had a Home Game and so the team wears dresses.
That same day the team all went to Costa Vida for lunch.

Cute Sadie

 and her counter-part...Miranda

Back to School Morning Devotionals!

I am so excited for school to start for one reason...morning devotionals!
I have always been so jealous of those families that have morning devotionals. I think it's so cool. But it has never been something that works into our families schedule...until now. I found a simplified version that is perfect for our busy family. I saw this idea on Pinterest...(of course,) and loved it. I worked on it throughout the summer and got it all ready for the start of the school year. It's a program called "Armor your Children" It has a topic for each week and then daily scriptures that goes along with the topic. We simply read the scriptures during breakfast and then can talk about them then or on the way to school . Week 1 is Kindess. Week 2 is Service. Week 3 is Honesty and Week 4 is Knowledge and Learning. The program goes through the entire school year with a different topic each week. They even have topics to go with Christmas and Easter devotionals.
Our Morning Devotional board all set and ready to go for the first 4 weeks!
YEAH, I can't wait!

Back to School Fashion Show!

On Sunday, August 11, 2013 we had a "Back-to-School" Fashion Show!
Calli, Sadie, Gentry, Hallee, Raiden, Annie and Charlotte took to the runway to show us all the upcoming school fashions. We all sat outside at Grandpa and Grandma Peterson's house and the kids took turns changing into the different outfits they chose and then coming out and modeling them.

On one of Sadie's outfit she came out like this: she still had all her tags on. It was so funny.

Back to school hair-do

Calli was the DJ for the event and kept the music going so she only modeled one outfit.
After the fashion show we enjoyed treats and visiting. It was a fun evening!

Summer Odds and Ends

Can summer really be over? I am always so sad when summer comes to an end. I thoroughly enjoy having my girls home all day.  Like all adventure-filled summers, this one was no different. Here's some of the random summer fun we have had:
Snake findings...
While walking home late from Hallee's one night the girls spotted a snake and called Adam to come and catch it for them. After hanging up the phone he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. I said sure, thinking we were just going to go meet the girls and walk home with them....ewe, I couldn't go barefoot for weeks after seeing that disgusting thing.  I can't stand them, but Adam and the girls think they are so cool!
Crafts! Calli loves to plan out her outfits for the week. After seeing this idea on pinterest, we made her this darling board for her room. I love how it turned out!
Each day during the summer the girls had "homework" to work on.  Gentry had to read and practice times tables. Calli had to read the Book of Mormon and Sadie (who had been wanting to get into her splits for awhile now) had to stretch.  It finally paid off. She got in her right-legged splits. Way to Go Sadie!
We went to see Thoroughly Modern Millie at Tuacahn. It was so cute. We loved it!
Kami, Kim and I had our 4th annual "Bachelor/Bachelorette Party" These are always so much fun with good company, good food and lots of laughs.
Kami, Chloe Bess, Kim's sister-in law, Rylee, Kim, me and Calli
The best thing about summer are the late nights. This night, we were having banana splits at midnight.
Relaxing summer days. Sadie and Jaicelyn had a fun "Spa Day"
After Gentry's bath one night Adam and I came across this fun surprise...so cute!
Each summer, I go through the girls clothes to see exactly what they are in need of for school. While going through bins in the bonus room I found one of my old prom dresses. Calli wasn't thrilled in this picture because I kept teasing her that we didn't need to get her one of her own because she could just wear this one...she was not amused.
One night for family home evening, Terry invited us to the faculty Dixie College BBQ. (Anytime, I don't have to cook dinner, I'm all over it. ) Sadie and Jaicelyn really got into the entertainment and went up by the band and clapped and danced. It was pretty funny!

We also went swimming a lot this summer.
Our annual Losee get together at Veyo Pool.
All the cousins playing "colors"

After we swim, we eat, explore, play in the stream, catch crawdads and then swim some more. This is always such a fun tradition.
After being begged all summer long and me promising Gentry we would swim at the city pool before school started I finally made good on my promise.
They each took a friend and had a good time.
They loved the new hydro tube.
We also went to the Washington Rec. Center.
Each year Simister orthodontics does a customer appreciation day. We aren't customers but my sister-in-law who works there invites us to go each year. It's 2 hours full of free food, ice cream, snow cones, games, prizes, activities and swimming.
Gentry, Jantzyn and Sopie having fun with the photo booth.
Sadie and Jaicelyn also got into the action.
They also had fun with the climbing wall

What a fun-filled adventurous summer we had once again!
