Calli's Junior Year of Soccer started out with 2-firsts... #1-Her first yellow card and #2-Getting her name in the paper.
Snow Canyon vs Roy
Calli was a starting Varsity Player and played most the game. Pretty quickly the game turned aggressive and there were lots of physical plays, fouls and PK's.

#1 - Yellow Card: During one aggressive play Calli and another player ran right into each other and got tangled up. Her opponent took a hard hit to the ground. Calli paused to help her up but still received the yellow card. She had to leave the game until the next play. We were proud of her for getting her first yellow card because it means she's playing tough.(We were also happy to see her stop to help up the other player) but hopefully there aren't too many more of those or the ref's will start paying closer attention to #20.
#2 - Name in the paper: The next day this was in The Spectrum.
WARRIORS BOUNCE BACK, BEAT ROYALS
ST. GEORGE – Snow Canyon bounced back from a tough season-opening road trip with a decisive 3-1 win over 5A Roy Saturday morning.Megan Weston scored the Warriors’ opening goal, and Mishayla Fausett scored the decisive goals—a pair of second-half far-post strikes, as Snow Canyon looked much improved. Those were the kind of goals Fausett has been working hard all summer to score.Fausett and teammate Jenny Stewart, the Warriors’ other primary scorer, spent hours practicing their shooting this summer. Fausett said she would come early to conditioning practices to work on her shooting. On days when there wasn’t a practice or on Saturdays, she and Stewart would be at the field working. All that practicing had Fausett prepared for when the opportunity came.In the 54th minute, Cami Bergen played a through ball to Fausett on the right edge of the box. Bergen gathered it and created some space for herself before she fired a low bullet into the far post to put Snow Canyon up 2-0.She added another 10 minutes later. On that play, the cross came to her on the left side of the penalty area. Unguarded, she made a good first touch and then darted a low shot that tucked inside the far post—the only place she could have placed it that the goalkeeper could not reach. That put the Warriors up 3-0.“It’s nice to see their hard work pay off,” said Snow Canyon coach Kenny Kunde. “It’s good to see them put in the back of the net.”Snow Canyon struck first in the 22nd minute when a line drive cross off a corner found Weston all alone eight yards out. Weston deftly hit a downward frozen rope near post to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.After their road trip, Kunde had his team work on their spacing and defense. That emphasis showed Saturday. The game was fairly evenly played in the midfield, but Snow Canyon had the better chances, and it was because of Snow Canyon’s defensive clamp down.Roy struggled to get a good look against the Warriors’ back line of Kyleigh Wittwer, Katherine Benson, Callister Peterson and Christee Wilson. Madison Mooring tended the pipes well, particularly with one brilliant diving save in the game’s final 20 minutes.“I thought Kat and Kyleigh did a good job today,” Kunde said. “They are our senior captains, and they were challenged to be more vocal, and they were.”The Warriors are optimistic that Saturday’s win will erase a rough start and be the beginning of a great season.“We struggled at first,” Fausett said. “We were still getting used to playing with each other, but we’re getting there. We’re getting better each day.
”Woo Hoo! Way to Go Calli! Here's to another great year!
