Our Saturday!

Saturday, April 16th was a busy, busy day!
We had five different places or events to be to that day. So we had to pick and choose which ones we could make it too and what we had to pass on.
-9:00-noon: Sadie Stake Activity days
-9:00am: Youth stake service project at Tuacahn
-All morning-Sadie's Dance competition at Dixie College
                                      -All day: Kite Festival
-5:00: Calli soccer game in Cedar
We made it to 2 1/2 of these.
We went to Sadie's dance comp. and Calli's soccer game and then sent the girls reading calendars with their teachers so they could still get a kite.
Mine and Sadie's day started at 6:30 that morning. We woke up and got her all ready.

Sadie in her "Team Sweats" Her team is called Embrace Dance Co.

Sadie's cute lyrical dress.

and my favorite...her jazz costume.
We got to Dixie College by 7:30. She went with her team to the dressing room to finish getting ready and practice. Her first dance was at 8:30am. I found a comfortable spot that I could hang out in ALL DAY. Adam ran in and watched her first dance and then went back home to get Calli and Gentry up and ready to come back in for her second performance which wasn't until 1:15pm.
Sadie and her team performing their Jazz routine to M.I.C.A
Sadie's lyrical performance to Slow Me Down.
In between her dances we watched all the other teams perform, went shopping at some booths they had set up, ate lunch and just hung out.

Sadie after both dances waiting for the award ceremony to begin which was at 2:30pm.

All the teams down on the floor accepting their awards. Each girl received a trophy and then each team won bigger trophies in their different categories. Embrace won 2nd in Lyrical and 3rd in Jazz.  This is a brand new team and this was their first competition. They did great.

As soon as the awards were over we jumped in the car, grabbed a bite to eat and drove to Cedar City for Calli's soccer game.

Calli-#2 listening to her coach at half time.

Out on the field.  Calli plays defender and plays the entire game with no subs. Her team is a competitive team called the Dixie Dragons. It is a brand new team also. She plays on U14 which means most of the girls on her team and the girls she plays against are 14-15 year olds. She looks so tiny out there, but she has NO fear. It doesn't matter if her opponent is a foot taller then her she will go after that ball.  This is her second season with this team and I cannot believe how much she has improved. It has been so fun to watch her and the other girls get better and better with each game. We ended up getting home around 8:00 that night.
What a fun, crazy busy day!

Science Fair!

Calli is in Honors Science this year and so she didn't have a choice whether or not to enter in the science fair, she had to enter...ugh. Gotta love it! It was a pretty big deal. They went to SUU on March 22nd with 15 different schools for the entire day. (She had to be to Lava Ridge at 6:00am and then didn't get back until 7:00 that night.  I really wanted to drive up and see her but didn't want to go alone so it being Adam's birthday he took a couple hours off and we took a fun drive to cedar and back.  Out of 100's of kids and 26 just in her category she won 3rd place the chemistry category. She did the effects of tempering chocolates. (Having a chocolate Factory in the family certainly has it's advantages.) She came home with a metal and a certificate. It always surprises me at how well she does each year in the science fair when we have no clue what were' doing.  Great job! Calli

Beware!

Beware 8 new posts ahead!

Sadie's Track Meet!

Wednesday, April 6th was Sadie's Track Meet.
She always has surprises up her sleeve. For being such a dainty little girl, she sure can run!
Because her birthday is in Sept. she got bumped up to the 11-12 year division. She looked so small with all those big kids, but she did so good. In the 200 she came in 2nd and in the 100 she came in 1st and qualified for the finals in both races.  During her first final run (She came in in the middle of the pack) she ended up hurting her ankle and so she didn't run in her second run.  But she has so much fun, she's really only there for the social side of it anyway.
Sadie and her "pose." I had SO much fun hanging out with her and her friends for the day. I just loved watching her mingle with everyone. She is such a good friend and is so nice to everyone. I'm so proud you Sadie for the person you are.

Looks whose next!

Ivins is going through a huge revamp...They are putting in Sidewalks...finally.
We have been anxiously waiting for it to be our turn. That day is here, our street is next. YEAH!

Here's the before picture. I'll post the after when they're all done. Woo Hoo!

I sure do love where I live!

Not only do I get to live under this gorgeous red mountain, but I also love our living situation.
I love living back behind houses and being off the main road. It gives the girls so much freedom. I love living so close to Adam's dad. There is never a dull moment. We never know who's coming over.  My girls always have cousins to play with and a party or BBQ happens on the spur of the moment.  Also, right next door is Merilee's daughter Kami and her family. We have sure grown to love Merilee and her family. It's still weird to think of Kami as Adam's step sister, but we all get along just like family.
Here's our little "compound." On the left is Adam's dad house. On the right is our house and right in the middle behind the playhouse and swing set you can see the top of Kami's roof.

And, this is the best invention ever. We have a ladder that goes up and over the wall between ours and Kami's house.  It is the most used thing in the whole back yard. I love it cuz' I don't have to worry about the girls coming home after dark, they just hop over the fence. It is so convenient. I have to admit that I have even used it.

Evening of the Arts!

The theme for this years Evening of the Arts was "Make a Change"
Gentry came up with her project all by herself. She gathered items that we were throwing away and also picked up litter around Ivins on some of our family walks. Then she decided she wanted to make a rocket with all her "garbage. " So we named it "Make a Change and reach for the stars."
It turned out so cute. All I did was help her cut the pieces out and hot glue them on.

Sadie is a darling story teller, so she knew right away that she wanted to write a story. She wrote a story about two cousins that saved a Sea Turtle from some hunters. She did such a great job. It was a fun story.  She also drew the picture for her cover.

I got a call that day that Gentry had one an award for her entry, but we had no idea what she won.  We didn't tell Gentry that she won, we just went that night.  She was so surprised to here her name be called for...1st Place.  She ran right up to the stage and get her trophy.

 Gentry with her loot.

Sadie's story didn't win that night, but she was so happy for Gentry. She is such a sweetheart.  But every child received an award just for entering . They each came away with ribbons, gift card to Golden Corral, and a free ice cream cone from Dairy Queen. Good job girls, so proud of you both.

After the awards night we went to Iceberg with my whole family to celebrate my dad's birthday. (We do this with each person's birthday) We were one of the first ones there so the girls entertained themselves by dancing on the tables.

General Conference!

This was a fun idea I found online.  It's a General Conference wall.  We colored pictures of some of the topics that might be discussed during conference and then hung them up.  Then the girls each had a stack of pictures of the Presidency and the Twelve. Every time one of them spoke they had to listen and figure out what the topic was and then run and put his picture on the conference wall. It turned out to be pretty fun! The girls love it

And of course we have to have our basket of sugar.

The girls coloring, eating and listening to conference and....

entertaining themselves the best they could:)

April Fools!

The girls woke up Aprils Fools morning to their rooms being toilet papered. They were so surprised. (Thank you Shelli for the idea from your last years April Fools day post)
Calli's Room
Sadie's Room
and Gentry's Room
Sadie and Gentry took the April fools day tricks with them to school that day. Sadie went with her arm in a sling and Gentry went with a band-aid on her chin. When they walked down to Grandma's to pick up Hallee, Grandma Merilee said she was getting ready to call social services.
After school Gentry and Hallee kept the fun going with these black eyes. Hmmm, do you think anyone was suspicious when they both had one? ha ha
That night we had a big Peterson BBQ. It was a great day. It was also my dad's birthday. He was out of town and all day I kept reminding myself to call him but then would get distracted. He ended up with a surprise phone call at his hotel around 11pm that night. Happy Birthday Dad. Love ya!

Tramp Fun!

I love finding pictures on my camera that I didn't even know were on there.
Looks like the girls had a ball on the tramp one day.

Finding Nemo Party!

The cast of Finding Nemo got together for a Nemo movie watching party.

It's such a fun group with some cute, cute kids!
