Quick Coral Pink Trip

We took a quick day trip out to Coral Pink Sand Dunes. We have been wanting to get Austin out to the dunes for a while but when he is in town it’s for summer and Christmas, both not optimal times for the dunes. So we decided to just go out for the day. We called Ryan and made a party of it!
Heading out!
I am loving the dunes more and more especially Coral Pink because we’re familiar with them now and I know the hills and what ones we’ve already done. So it’s fun to take people out for the first time because their looking at the hills thinking “no way” and we’re thinking “heck ya” cause we’ve already done it before. Haha! Austin loved it!
Sadie loves the dunes but the bagel she had for breakfast did not. She felt a bit quiet so when we stopped to rest she was able to throw up and get it out of her stomach and felt much better afterwards.
With Sadie feeling better, we decided to hit a trail and take them to medicine man cave!

Skull in the rock
We were gone from about 6am to 1pm. We all had a blast and were happy to know we could buzz there and back in a day and it would be worth it!

Answered Prayers

August 12, 2021 Just as we were starting to see some normalcy return, we had another spike in Washington County. The hospitals were getting full again due to more gatherings, more traveling, no more masks and not everyone being vaccinated. The delta variant was raging but people were tired of living with restrictions that they were fighting mandates to wear masks and get vaccinated. It was scary to think we could go backwards again...but I was still so uncertain about the vaccines. I kept praying about it, hoping I’d get an answer. It was just so scary since it was not FDA Approved yet and some of the side effects are so scary. (I have always had a fear of blood clots, which had been a mentioned side effect to the vaccine, not to mention Sadie’s friend Brynn Wamsley had just unexpectedly lost her dad due to a blood clot. Whether it was covid related or not I’m not sure. But still scary) But then so are the side effects for some with covid. One eye opener that really pushed Adam into wanting the vaccine was Aunt Susie had just spent 2 months in ICU with covid fighting for her life. (She is stable now but still in therapy) He was ready then but so patient to wait for me to be ready. We had a few group events coming up that I was getting anxious about and Adam would say “then let’s get the shot” but I was still hesitant. Finally, with a family reunion, BYU football game and surgery around the corner we knew we needed to do it sooner than later. We decided on a day and said we’d go together on that day. That morning, knowing it was “the” day. I almost broke down in tears, just thinking about it. I still can’t really put a finger on why I was so scared but I was. That afternoon I had a dentist appointment and as I sat in the waiting room I was checking my emails. I opened one from the church and my prayers were instantly answered.

The church had sent out an official statement urging us to get the vaccine. That’s all I needed.
We went right after my dentist appointment and never looked back. Our shoulders hurt for a few days but it felt soooo good to have finally received an answer to be safe guarded from this virus. It’s kinda weird but I felt so peaceful and empowered. Haha! So thankful to answered prayers! Round two of Moderna will be in 30 days!! Here’s to fighting this virus one day at a time!!

Bryce Canyon

July 30-August 1, 2021
What an adventure this weekend turned out to be! Gentry had made plans with Jaden and Stephanie to go spend the weekend with Gates! Rather than them drive themselves to and from Bryce Canyon, Adam and I decided to go camping in Bryce for the weekend and to take them up and back. We checked the weather and kept an eye on it. It was supposed to rain off and on, on Friday and Sunday. So, we just figured we’d plan around it.

We left Friday morning  around 11:00am to beat the afternoon storm. We made it to the Panquitch pass before it hit. But it wasn’t too bad so we kept trudging along.

We dropped the girls off and talked with Tim Gates for a bit before heading to our campsite!

Had to say hi to Timmy and take a selfie to send to Kevin. Timmy Tim has such a great memory and always says “Kevin’s sister” as soon as he sees me. The girls had a blast. We bumped into them a couple times as we were all out and about. They went to the show one night, went shopping, got ice cream, went to the gym and hung out!

Adam and I got to our spot and all set up around 2:00pm.

Boon docking at its finest!

Took a ride in the razor and found Thunder Mountain Trail. Of course we had to hike it!

Got back to the site and ate dinner while watching the Olympics. I love the Olympics. This became our mealtime ritual. Every time we sat down to eat, we’d turn on the Olympics. It was so relaxing!
Adam hung up the hammock for additional relaxing as well. We fell asleep that night watching a movie.
The next morning we got up and ate breakfast before hitting the trails. Tim had told us about a ride/hike called Powell Point. Sounded awesome so we thought we’d try it out. We had looked at the weather the day before and Saturday was supposed to be clear so we didn’t bother looking at it again before our ride. Haha!!
It was a gorgeous ride. Most of it was in dense forest!
We climbed and climbed!

We hit a few puddles on the way. But finally made it. We parked and hiked the 3/4 mile to the point!
The view while hiking was already so pretty!
I had to keep stopping to get more pictures!

We made it to the point! It was awesome!!

It overlooked so much!
There were also so many cool trees on the top.

Adam checking out the view below. Seeing if he could find Bryce Canyon town.

Just chilling!

Adam flew his drone while out on the point and got some amazing footage!

Us out on the point, shot from the drone!

We played on top for quite a while and then started our hike back down.

We made it back to the razor and were only a few minutes into the ride, when it started to rain.
It smelled so good! At that point it was only sprinkling and Adam took it nice and easy so we just enjoyed the ride.

Splashing through the rain and mud!

Once we got to the bottom and came out of the trees, it was dumping rain and hail. It was so crazy! We had to hang our heads out the sides to even see the road.
One side of each of us got soaked!
And it was so cold!
It lightened up enough for us to pull over and clean our windshield.
We decided to go into town and grab some lunch and dry off!
The little cafe we found was so yummy! After eating, we were dry enough to go browse and walk around the shops. We spotted Gentry with her friends at the ice cream shop and stopped to say hi!
After browsing and shopping we decided to drive through Bryce Canyon and saw some little Bambi’s.

Later that day we had planned to go kayaking at Tropic Reservoir but another storm was going to blow through, so we tucked ourselves into the trailer, ate dinner, played games, watched a movie and the Olympics!
As the rain came down in sheets we went and sat on the porch under the awning and watched the lightning and listened to the thunder. It was a little nerve racking sitting under all the tall trees with lightning striking everywhere but according to our “counting” the closet one hit was 2 miles away. We went back into the trailer to finish our games when all of a sudden out entire trailer shook and the awning fell dumping water onto the ground. We both jumped up saying “did we get hit” But then we realized we never heard Thunder which we would have. We walked outside and realized the awning got too heavy with rain water and fell hitting the trailer and causing us to shake back and forth. Haha! We were a little shaken up for a while after that. But even with all the adventures and the rain we still had a great time and were so glad we went.
