December 12th-14th 2014
Sadie had an opportunity to go to the "The Pulse on tour" in Las Vegas with her dance team. The Pulse is a huge dance convention where they bring in celebrity dancers from all over to teach classes to dancers who come from all over the U.S. She was pretty nervous about going and I was a little nervous about letting her go ...so we turned it into a Family Weekend and all went!
Friday, we checked the girls out of school and headed down. We had a funny Sadie moment as we entered Vegas: (She was a little nervous about staying the night there) S: "Is our hotel nice?" M: "Yea I think so" S: "Where is at? M: "Right on the strip." S: "Oh, so it's one of those huge hotels?" M: "Yep" S: "Oh, good I was worried it was going to be a scary, little hotel in a bad neighborhood"... (looks out the window)..."like that one." "Look, that hotel doesn't even have windows." M: "That's a parking garage." S: "Whew" We checked into the Bally's hotel (Which was a huge, nice hotel with windows) where the conference was being held and where the rest of the team was staying.

We were on the 18th floor.
Our view at night.
Eminence Dance Team at The Pulse.
There were 26 girls, 1 boy, 2 instructors and 8 mom's that went plus our family. It was quite the sight watching all 40 of us walk the strip together to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner one of the nights. Adam was the only "Dance Dad" there. All the mom's commented at what a patient man he must be. He, Calli and Sadie were such sports that entire weekend. For the most part Sadie was involved in the convention, classes, rehearsals, practices, showcases and fashion shows the entire weekend. We followed her and the team around to most of the events but on Saturday took time to go play while she was in classes.
The instructors and most of the team were on floor 20 so the lobby of that floor became the headquarters for our group. We would meet there for instructions, rehearsals, some of the meals and just to hang out in-between events.
Eminence practicing for try-outs to perform in the final showcase.
(They didn't end up making it into the final performance but they did win the Itensity Award and a $1200 credit for next years tour.) Woo Hoo!
Breakfast.
While Sadie was in classes, Adam, Calli, Gentry and I found ways to entertain ourselves.
Shopping and Browsing in the hotel shops.
Playing soccer in the room.
Getting out for the day and heading to the malls. This is Calli and Gentry running, jumping and slamming their shoes on the parking garage walls to leave a mark.
There were thousands of marks everywhere. They thought it was cool to leave their own.
Disney Store.
Meeting back up with Sadie and the team for the final showcase. It was such a great experience for Sadie. She loved the classes, hanging out, getting to know the girls better, dancing all day and meeting and being taught by the best of the best. Some of the Celebrity instructors were: Cris Judd, Dave Scott, Gil Dulduloa and Tyce Diorio (recent dancer on SYTYCD, the girls went gaga for him.)

At the final showcase she even got a picture with Trinity from Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. She was pretty excited. With it being Sunday the next day we bailed a day early and headed back home late Saturday night.

On the strip heading home. We got home around 1:30am. We were tired from our long weekend but so glad to have gone and learned more about it so next year we'll know exactly what to expect.
