Sadly, along with all the fun, good and happy moments, September was a sad, hard and trying month in the US and the church.
On September 10th, Charlie Kirk was murdered, at UVU (shooter was positioned on the Losee Center and a St. George resident.) He was a powerhouse, Christian and conservative, who would tour universities and debate politics. It was such a hard blow and so so sad. Of course, his death caused waves but it was so refreshing to see the Christians band together. There were no riots just peaceful vigils and a 5 hour memorial all centered around Christ.
Then September 27th, our beloved prophet and president Russell M Nelson passed away. He was a powerhouse in his own right and did so much good, always promoting kindness and temple attendance. He will be greatly missed.
(My mom sent this picture...recognize anyone? I had totally forgotten that we had met President Nelson until she sent this picture!!
The following day, our church took another hit, when a gunman attacked a congregation while attending church. This is the second shooting this month involving Christians but the first involving the LDS community. It had been a couple of dark and heavy days. I have never been more ready to sit in front of my TV this weekend and watch our leader speak to us at General Conference. It is going to to be eye opening. During these troubled times, I am so thankful for the gospel in my life and the peace it brings.
