Last year my family rented a cabin in Brian Head and it was obvious that this would be a new annual tradition. So on July 8, 2011 we all packed up again and headed to the cabin. 28 people all under the same roof...you can imagine the adventures.
As soon as we got there the girls ran downstairs to the "girls" room and marked their territory.
Jorrin, Ashlyn and Calli were goo goo over Justin Bieber all weekend.
And Sadie, Kassi and Maddie decorated their bunk as well. ha ha
We drove through a huge storm (story below) to get there and Adam's bike was in the back and if you know a man and his bike you know they had to get it inside and dry in no time. I think it's so funny how all the men jumped in to "save" the bike.
We were lucky enough while we were there that is was "National No-Bra Day" so of course we had to make a sign to hang up to freak out all the guys.
There was plenty to do and fun for all. Grandpa helping the little ones make their crafts.
Calli and her crew just chilling!
Gentry, Sadie and their crew playing downstairs.
Adam getting ready to go on a bike ride with the Guys.
We played Minute to win it!
Which was a blast.
Me trying to knock over bottles of water with nylons over my head.
My dad shooting rubber bands at a pyramid of cups.
And Sadie, Maddie and Jaicelyn trying to get cookies from their forehead to their mouths.
And of course the Swing. There are so many things for the kids to do and no where for them to really go that they have an absolute ball and the adults get to visit, play games and relax. It's a perfect weekend for everyone.
While we were there however, Adam had a pretty big heart episode. I'm assuming the altitude had a lot to do with it. It started and would not stop. After about an hour of trying to get it to stop on it's own he finally had to take some meds to get to stop. That's the first time he has had to do that. After about a half hour it slowed back down but the whole ordeal made him feel horrible. It's was pretty scary. I swear I need to take a pill too when that happens cuz' my heart gets a pumping just worrying about him. Needless to say after that we are discussing the possibility of surgery...again. We'll see.
The drive to the Cabin was eventful as well. We drove most the way there through rain but as soon as we hit Parowan it began to pour, thunder and lightning. About 5 miles before the Brian head turn off a huge lightning hit and immediately we heard Thunder. It was so close that it shook the car. The girls thought that it hit the car. About 30 seconds up the road we came across an accident that had JUST happened. We assumed the lightning had something to do with it. There was a van that had rolled and ended up on it's side and people were just pulling off to run over and help them. Adam pulled off as well and ran out in the pouring rain to help. It was so nice seeing so many people jumping out with no regards to themselves and running in the rain to the aid of these strangers, it made me so proud as I watched. They ended up pulling 3 people up and out of the passenger side door. Luckily there were no fatalities. Once the ambulance was on the way we got back on the road again. With that now in our minds the continued drive was a little nerve-racking. The storm continued and got worse as we drove up the canyon. A few times it was coming down so hard that we had almost no visibility. I kept asking Adam if he wanted to pull over and wait it out but he would just calming say "We're okay". The girls feeling as tense as I was asked if we could say a prayer. I offered a prayer that we would get there safely and almost as fast as we said Amen the rain lightened up until we pulled into the cabin...what a wonderful sight that was. My mom and dad and sisters family was already there, we all made an assembly line and got all our stuff in within a couple minutes and to our pleasant surprise they had a warm spaghetti diner waiting for us. It was Pure heaven after that.
