March 5th - 7th, 2021 We kicked off Spring Break by having Mati come down and play the weekend leading in to Spring Break. We took him and Calli out to the Snow Canyon look out. Neither had been before. (Gentry didn't feel up to going and Sadie was in Hawaii)
The Crew!
The hike itself isn't much to look at but the overlook makes up for it.
Adam pointing out Snow Canyon. I love these two's relationship.
Mati was Calli's own personal photographer. He climbed to the highest point at Calli's request, to get the best pictures of Calli looking out over the view.

Calli's turn
Here's my favorite subject to photograph.
On the way out we passed some riders.
They were nice enough to let us pet their horse and visit for a minute.
That afternoon, while Calli took a nap and I worked on Relief Society stuff, Adam, Mati, Ryan and Curt all went for a ride.
They went back to 3 corners.
That night Mati made us Ar-gentian pizzas complete with scrambled eggs
Sunday, we went to our great nephew Grae's blessing and luncheon. After the luncheon we took a Sunday hike to Snow Canyon to show Mati more of our favorite places. We hiked Jenny's Canyon and Pioneer Names.
Cool caves.

Monday, March 8th Adam, Myself, Terry Sheri, Brandon, Tracy and mom and dad went to Paula's. Gentry and Jantzyn were lucky enough to tag along and sit at a table to themselves. Although we didn't get any pictures, Gentry and I had a fun day of lunch and shopping on Thursday, March 11th.
Friday, March 12th Sadie got home from Hawaii at 2:00 pm. Work was so slow due to the storm that I was able to get off early and be home when she got there. (side note: While in Hawaii we were trying to get tickets to that weekends BYU home opener. But as soon as "limited" tickets went on sale they were sold out. Sadie was so sad and expressed that she still wanted to go to Provo even if she couldn't go to the game. The weather was going to be the deciding factor.) She walked in and after hugs and listening to her adventures she asked about Provo and told us that one of the friends she was with in Hawaii was going to Provo in the next hour. We checked the weather and it wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. But we decided we'd rather drive her than send her up with a friend. So with a very spontaneous decision we decided to get on the road asap. We packed as fast as we could and left the house and was on the freeway by 3:00 pm. We had a small window of decent weather we were trying to beat. We traveled straight through without any instances until we were south of Beaver. There had been a huge accident just north of Beaver closing all 3 lanes northbound as well as a separate accident closing the southbound lanes as well. They diverted us to drive through Beaver with plans to open the freeway within 30 minutes. As we drove through the town of Beaver we came to complete stop. After about an hour of the standstill, we began looking for answers and projected times of opening. Everything we read said another 3-4 hours. Adam walked back to a couple diesels behind us and talked to the drivers to see if they had any information as well. Neither had a CB or radio so they had the same information as we did. We tried to keep our spirits up by snacking, watching Netflix, playing games and vlogging. Sadie was the only one that was anxious to get to Provo. With her just coming home from Hawaii, she had told Austin we would not be able to come for the first game. She was planning on surprising him. She wanted to be at his apartment when he pulled up from the game. Well…we were still sitting in traffic, in Beaver when the game ended. She was a little discouraged as time ticked on and we sat. As more news came in with longer projected open times, we started laying out our options. Should we get a hotel and stay in Beaver (luckily this was on option, had we been stuck on the freeway, we'd been sleeping in the truck) should we just stay put in the mile long line and sleep in the truck if necessary or hold out hope that we would be moving sooner than later. We decided to hold out as long as possible. After about 3.5 hours some of us had to pee so we walked up the line of traffic to a little café to use the bathroom and order French fries. While in the café, the line of cars started moving. We walked out just as Adam reached us in the truck. We ran and jumped in. We drove the next several miles at 3-4 MPH. At this point it had been 4 hours of waiting but we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Inching along we finally made it back to the freeway where we continued to inch along for a few more miles. We were finally able to speed up and cars began to separate themselves from the pack as we entered Beaver Pass. The pass was so snow packed from having no cars on it for 4 hours and was still snowing that traffic again slowed to 35 MPH. It took us another hour at this speed to get through the pass. There were even a few cars still sliding off the roads. I tend to clam up and like the quiet when I get nervous, but Adam need noise. He needs music or better yet me talking to him. So, I had to put my comfort level aside and talk and talk. I chattered away for the entire hour. We were both so thrilled when we finally reached dry roads and skies. From that point on it was smooth sailing. We drove straight to Austin’s apartment, getting there around 11:30 pm. He was shocked. Just for that, the drive was worth it. She chatted with him while we went and picked up some dinner and then went back and picked her up and drove to our hotel in Orem, pulling in around 12:30 am.We fell into bed that night and woke up to a text from Austin saying that the game had been cancelled. While that was kinda sad because that was part of the reason we went up there was for Sadie to at least go to the game, it was also great because now Sadie had Austin to hang out with all day.

Hotel Breakfast..covid style. They had these little boxes to pic up each morning at the front desk with bagels, yogurt, granola bars and string cheese.

First stop was the BYU bookstore. I love this place. We spent a couple hours here.
I got a couple dresses.
This isn't the first time I have bought dresses from there. I love them. So cute!
More bookstore pics. We had a ball and each found something or lots of things to buy.
You can barely see the Y on the mountain under the snow. After the BYU bookstore, we drove to Lehi to Cabelas...Adam's favorite store. We picked up his birthday present...see end of post.
Then on to University mall.
Taking a break. After shopping til we drop, we grabbed a bite to eat and went back to the hotel. The next morning, Sadie went and hung out with Austin while we packed and checked out. Then we all went to lunch before heading home.
One of my purchases from the bookstore.
I'm so in love. Even though it didn't quite turn out the way we had thought, we still had a fun weekend and a great end to Spring Break!
