We woke up and met down at breakfast. After eating pastries and cheeses, hot chocolate and juice we excitingly got on the 45-minute metro heading to Paris Disneyland. Oh, my goodness, this was such a fun day. Throughout the rest of the vacation everyone kept saying how much fun Paris Disneyland was…such a dream come true. Never thought it was actually a reachable dream, but we did it.
I loved that the layout was very similar to Disneyland, so it was easy to navigate. Everything felt familiar, even though we were in another country. We were pleasantly surprised with how many people spoke English. Even most of the rides, signs and parades were in English, we thought it was so funny that when the French come to the park, they can’t understand everything. There were two parks. Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland. We first went to Walt Disney Studios, because this park had the most unique things that he wanted to see. The entrance to Walt Disney Studios is adorable. All indoors and lots of shopping and restaurants. Everything was familiar but different enough that it made it interesting. We rode on all the rides here that Disneyland in California doesn’t have. We rode Ratatouille, RC Racer, Cars Road Trip, Tower of Terror, Crush's Coaster and Avengers Assembly. These parks are a lot smaller and can easily be done in a day or two. Crush’s Coaster is the most popular ride in both parks and was a consistent hour long wait all day. We bought an individual lightning lane for this ride and got right on. It was awesome. It's a roller coaster and you sit in turtle shells that spin. The beginning is nice and slow with scenes from the movie and then turns into a space mountain type ride only on crack. Haha! Adam says it's like the Tea Cups and Space Mountain in one ride.
Around 1 PM, we walked over to Disneyland, stopping for Mickey shaped sandwiches on Main Street for lunch. The entrance to Disneyland is a underneath the Disneyland hotel, which is massive.
While eating, the parade came by. It’s interesting that people don’t line up for hours to wait for the parade. There are no ropes or cast members directing traffic. Right as a parade started, people lined the streets, so we had a good view right from our table. After lunch, we then walked through the castle, saw the dragon, and then headed to Adventureland, and walked-through the “walk-through Aladdin attraction”. They had quite a few of these walk-through type attractions.
Afterword's, we went to Pirates, which is in a land all of its own and all of its pirate themed with a skull mountain, and a big pirate ship. It was really cool. The pirate ride was very similar to the one in Disneyland except it’s just the opposite, you go through the village before you go through the caves.
After pirates, we went on the Indiana Jones. This is completely different than at Disneyland, rather than being a dark ride, it’s just a roller coaster that goes upside down and was pretty crazy. Sadie and Gentry ended up hitting heads. We all had a pretty good laugh.
After Indiana Jones, we went on the Phantom Manor. This was similar to the Haunted Mansion, only a lot darker and scarier, and with a different story. When we walked out of Phantom Manor, we were in absolute shock to see hail all over the ground, the grass, the bushes, the tables etc. It was crazy. We kept asking "how long were we in there" Haha!
We then headed back over through the castle into Fantasy Land where we walked through Alice’s Labyrinth, rode Pinocchio and It’s a Small World. Pinocchio was exactly the same, only in French. I actually liked Paris’s It’s a Small World better, it is very colorful, bright and lit up.
After Fantasyland, we made our way to Tomorrowland where we rode Hyperspace Mountain, which was a lot like Space Mountain, only with a Star Wars theme, and it goes upside down, and then we walked through the Odyssey Submarine which was another walk-through attraction. We then went shopping on Main Street and Disney Village in the World of Disney. We then debated about going back in for the drone show. They weren’t 100% sure if they were going to do it because of the weather and we ultimately decided not to wait because we were exhausted and we had to pack up and be to the airport to fly to Barcelona the next morning, so we ate Mickey shaped pizzas in Disney Village and then rode the metro back to the hotel. It was such a fantastic day!
