Day 4 - Paris & Barcelona

 Saturday, February 24, 2024

Our flight was at 9 o’clock the next morning. Our driver picked us up at 6:00am and drove us to the airport. The Paris airport is so crazy and chaotic. We got there 2.5 hours early and only had about a half hour to sit before boarding our flight. Air France weighed every piece of luggage. Anything over 25 lbs had to be checked. Luckily, it was included so we didn’t have to pay more but it was a bit of a hassle.

We had a two-hour flight from France to Spain and landed at the Barcelona airport at 11 AM. We rode the metro to our apartment. Mercedes Heritage Apartments.  It was two, two-bedroom apartments and they were darling. The apartments were ready to check into when we got there.  Again, the girls absolutely loved where we were staying. They said it was so cute and it was central to everything.

We had tickets at 4:15pm for the Barcelona soccer game, so we took it easy and rested and relaxed and refreshed before heading out again. We walked to Montjuic, which is a mountain with a castle and lots of really cool sites. Calli went here a couple times while on her mission. This is also where the field was. The Camp Nou Stadium is being renovated so they’re playing on the Olympic Field for the season. With a hotdog, some sandwiches and popcorn for dinner, we found our seats and cheered them on to a 4-0 victory. Spaniards love their soccer. It was cold but so awesome and so much fun. Another highlight for sure. Gentry loved it. She was up chanting and singing the entire game. After the game we walked back to our hotel. Along the way, we stopped at a cute café and got the infamous churros and hot chocolate dip. We went back to our hotel and tucked in. Some nights it was harder to get to sleep and other times it was easy because we were so exhausted but usually I was awake by about 4:30am either way. (Funny Story about this night: Adam is a very vivid dreamer and I can usually tell in part what he's dreaming about. On nights that he's jerking and fidgety, he is usually fighting someone. I have woken him up before and said were you fighting and he says yes. Haha! During all his "dream fighting" he has never got physical, but this night he was nudging my shoulder after about three nudges I went to roll away from him and he reached up and grabbed my hair and pulled so hard. I screamed out and he immediately woke up and said "I am so sorry, I was kicking Micah's butt" We all had a good laugh about it the next morning, especially because he was kicking Micah's butt by hair pulling. Haha! Luckily, he has never done it since)

Trying to catch some zzz's on the 2-hour flight

I will never forget what Exit is in Europe. We have been seeing these signs everywhere for two days, especially at Disneyland.

Calli said these flower sidewalks are every where. She even has a necklace with the same symbol.

Signs on the trees were reminding people about the drought

Playground. So many parks here, but no grass

Walking to the game

Went in this big mall to eat but them decided just to get to the game and eat there.

Montjuic

So Amazing. I have pictures of Calli here.

The Olympic Stadium

It was pretty cold and got rainy during the second half.

We moved down to be sheltered from the rain

It was so much fun and they won 4-0
