Way to Go Calli!

Calli had High school soccer try-outs August 5-7th. On the last day of try-outs they finished at 10:30 am and were told that the list would be posted on the website by 1:00 pm.  Of course at 11:00 we started checking it every few minutes until it was finally posted at noon. It is always such an anxious experience. Calli and I both thought that we would be less nervous this year having already gone through it before, but we soon found out we were just as nervous as last year.  How relieved we were to find her name on the list of players who made the team.

After finding her name she quickly looked for Hannah's and Maddie's.  This was the first year Hannah tried out (as a Sophomore) while Calli and Maddie were both on the team last year. The three of them have become quite good friends this summer and were so anxious to see if they would all be playing with each other this year. Hannah's name was right after Calli's.  She was SO excited to see that Hannah had made the team. After finding Hannah's name she quickly started to look for Maddie's. We looked over the list over and over again. Maddie's name was not on the list. We were dumbfounded. After further inspection we noticed that there were 2 girls (a Junior -Sydney Dawson and a Sophmore- Maddie Cherrick) that were both on the team last year who were cut from the team this year. We couldn't believe it. We were shocked that the coaches would cut players that had been on the team already to make room for 12 freshman. All together they cut about 8 girls.  It was such a bitter-sweet day as Calli and Hannah went and celebrated with the team at Menchies; excited to have made it themselves but devastated for Maddie. They texted each other throughout the day and Maddie was happy for both of them. I'm so glad that they will still remain such good friends.

The next day they were back out on the field practicing everyday getting ready for the season. Calli was so cute as she headed off to practice. She said "I just can't wait to get that uniform on again, I'm so excited"

WAY TO GO CALLI! WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU.  ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION PAID OFF AGAIN. WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR ANOTHER SEASON OF WATCHING YOU PLAY SNOW CANYON SOCCER!!!
