Cabin Fever!

July 25-28, 2013
Each year my parents rent a cabin in Brian Head and all my brothers, sisters and their families come together under one roof for one adventurous weekend. This was our 4th year coming to this same cabin and the kids have all adopted it as their own and have a sense of ownership in it.

So this year my brother brought a "Losee" sign to hang out by the front door. The grand kids loved it.
We had a great time carrying out some of the same traditions we usually do like staying up past midnight each night, visiting, playing games, having a talent show, eating way to much, going to church Sunday morning down at town hall in our levi's, huddling together during rain storms, playing on the swings and laughing until our sides hurt. But this year we added in a little additional adventure with some fun activities.
Getting ready each morning with a house full of teenagers was an adventure in itself.

Playing Games. Games are always a big hit. Some of our favorites are Golf, Scum, Sequence, Ticket to ride,  Signs, What's your's like, and...
Sardines.
Everyone piling on, by and under the bed and each other.
Leave it to Kevin to cheat and leave the Cabin and hide in the tent out back. It took forever to find him.

This year we also had a competitive game of "Speed." After several rounds Lacey came out as the champ.
But the competition didn't end there. Saturday night we had family arm wrestling competition from Emily the youngest to grandpa the oldest.
Sadie vs Kassi

Calli vs Stacy
I was amazed at how far Calli advanced. She is so strong.
I had to arm wrestle Calli just for fun, just to see how strong she really was....ya, she won!

Me vs Brittney (Tavin's friend)
I won this round but lost the next one when I went up against Terry.

Brandon vs Jorrin
Brandon taking it easy eating his s'more while he arm wrestles.

Gentry vs Trasen

Grandpa vs Jadyn
Time for the big guns.
As the rounds continued, the weak got the boot, leaving the men for quite a competition. There were several rounds that lasted for 20 minutes just going back and forth between two people. The overall winners were Adam (left-handed) and Terry (right-handed)
Grandpa telling us an arm wrestling story about his sergeant in Vietnam.
The grand kids also had their usually game of "Hunger Games" outside in the woods.
Sadie (photo bombed by Austin) all painted up ready for Hunger Games.
Austin, Gentry, Emily and Jantzyn practicing their "hunting skills" before the games start.
The kids love being outside and spend most of their time running around the forest in the backyard and...
Playing on the swings
And anything else they can find to do. In this case, sliding down the dirt hills on sleds.
The adults and older kids liked the outdoors too, only on a bigger scale...Down at the lodge they had set up and huge blow-up balloon and a crane. For $10 they raise you up to 10 feet and then 35 feet in the crane and then you jump out of the crane and land on the balloon. This provided lots of entertainment.
Some of the "teenagers" getting ready to jump.
Jadyn, Jake, Brittney, Tavin, Calli and Jorrin.
Calli, Tavin and Jorrin heading up to 35 feet before their jump.
Calli didn't hestitate a bit she jumped like a pro.
Jorrin was hilarious she jumped and plugged her nose. We died laughing.
After a while some of the adults decided we couldn't be shown up by the teenagers, so Me, Adam, Ben, Tyson and Terry went up to prove ourselves as well. Adam and I getting ready to jump at 10 feet.
Me jumping at 35 feet. It was super fun.
The guys also enjoyed a couple bike rides.
Getting ready to head out for ride #1.
For ride #2 they decided to do "The Lift"
They put their bikes on the lift and then get on themselves and ride it to the top and then ride their bikes back down.
Heading up. Right in the middle of their bike ride it started to pour down rain and then started to hail. Watching it come down and knowing Adam was out on the trail I was getting a little nervous. But being a good husband knowing I would be worried he called and said they were just fine and they were doing okay.
They came back soaked and...

muddy but Happy.
While the boys were away the girls and all the kids...
did crafts. We made mosaic pictures, survival bracelets and hair bows.
I think the best part is just being able to sit back...
  relax...
 read a good book or...
simply just hang out.
It never lasts to long though. With a house full there's bound to be some rough housing.
Dog Pile on Jadyn.
We also had our annual Talent Show.
 All the contestants.
Kevin, Ashlyn and Austin showed us their burping talent.

Trasen showed us his Hip Hop

Sadie and Jaicelyn doing a dance.
and Terry and Jorrin's father/daughter dance.

Congrats to Terry and Trasen...our winners and next year's hosts.
On the last day after church we took family pictures.
Our cute little family!
Our Cute, Silly little Family.
