Thursday, September 15, 2022 - Day 7
VICTORIA, CANADA
Must be Thursday, because the elevator tells me so. Haha!
We were in Victoria by the time we woke up the next morning!
Seagull on our balcony.
We all met at Solarium for breakfast and then headed to the gangway for our excursion.
Stepping foot into Canada!
There was a diplomatic car at the airport. We thought that maybe the Prime Minister was heading to the Queens funeral. ???
We took a 2 hour bus tour through parts of Victoria.
Mile 0. This is where the major highway begins.
Largest watering can in the world. Taking pictures from a moving bus proved to be difficult. Haha!
Cool Trees
The largest totem pole in the world.
So many churches and cathedrals.
The Armory.
Lot's of green covering the buildings
The Empress hotel across the harbor.
The Legislative Assembly Building across the harbor
After our tour, there was an option to get off and explore on foot and find our own way back to the ship. Grandma and grandpa went back to the ship while the rest of us got off and explored.
Welcome to Victoria
It was so pretty!
Empress Hotel!
Apparently, bathrooms in Canada are called Washrooms.
When in Canada, Maple suckers are a must!
Lots of cute shops for souvenir shopping. A lady asked when we had to be back on the ship, when I told her 6:00pm, she said that was unheard of, most people that get there in the morning had to be back by 1:00pm...more blessings!
It felt a lot how I imagine England to be. There were lots of little cafes for tea.
We explored this huge mall.
It had 4 floors.
Haha! Canada is still pretty strict when it comes to covid restrictions.
We walked down to China Town!
Legend has it, that if an honest politician walks between these lions they will come to life...
Cute little alleyway!
More sights of Victoria.
Back to the Empress Hotel
The Legislative Assembly
I'm a bit obsessed with the royal family, so this was my favorite stop. I loved it.
Queen Victoria. I wonder if they will replace the statue now that Queen Elizabeth reigned longer.
There were flowers laid out in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth who had just passed away.
Time Capsule.
The different providences of Canada
Judges House
Gatsby's Mansion. Had to take this picture for Gentry. She loves the book and movie Mr. Gatsby.
Lot's of cute houses.
I thought this one looked like the house from "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"
They love their front gates, roses, buses and shrubs. Most the of grass was brown but their yards were green and covered in plants and trees.
Back to the ship. Always love this view.
It's like coming home!
Bahamas Flag at the back deck of Windjammer.
Grandma had called us and said it was Mexican night at windjammer and had churros (Levi's favorite) so we went straight there for dinner.
Ice Cream after dinner.
Number 10!
Views of Victoria!
Went to the hot dog house and then walked around the top of the ship looking at the view.
Seaplane
Another cruise ship pulled into port!
It was pretty cool to watch the process.
We pulled out of Victoria while at dinner.
Hit the bumper cars again...check out that sunset!
And walked around the ship, enjoying all the sights, sounds and tastes. Everyday we were on a hunt for cookies.
That night we had to have our bags out in the hall by 10:00pm for pick up. We did port valet, so they picked up our bags, checked us in to the airline and we never saw our bags again until Las Vegas. It was so nice since we planned to explore Seattle the next day before flying home.
Solarium at night is gorgeous.
Looking out the very front of the ship seeing if the ship uses headlights. Haha!
Another view from our secret deck.
That night we went to the Headliner Show- which was a Comedian and World Champion Juggler.
And then ended our night the best way possible. Back in the Music Hall for the last Switched On Band Concert!
80's music and Pina Coladas. Does it get any better than that?
It was a two hour concert so we had a couple games of pool while they played as well.
The band ended but the crowd begged for more. They came back out and did a 4 song encore all 80's hair bands. It was the best. I may have ended up back on the dance floor jumping up and down.
Back to the 7th deck passed this same staircase we passed everyday to head to our cabin and tuck ourselves into bed.
