DISEMBARKATION - SEATTLE
Again, we woke up already in Seattle.
Had to snap one last picture of the daily tiles.
Met at the Windjammer for one last breakfast.
and a stroll through the Royal Esplanade. Although we were sad to see it end it had been a good length of vacation. Not too long and not too short. It didn't feel like it flew by so we were mostly ready to disembark.
Heading to the Gangway!
Girls first time in a taxi.
Getting off the ship and heading to the long taxi line of loud, impatient taxi drivers was a stressful experience. It was like walking from the celestial world into the Telestrial World. Haha! We had just been catered too, pampered, been where everyone was so nice and knew our names to getting off and people were yelling and chaotic. I looked back at the ship and yearned to get back on. On our taxi ride I wondered if that was what it was like to leave our Heavenly home. Some place that was comfortable, where everyone was kind and knew our names to a place that was scary and uncertain. I wonder if we ever looked back and thought. I just want to go back. Penny for your thoughts! :)
Our Taxi experience was great. but Calli, Levi, Grandma and grandpa's was not so much. We were glad when we all made it to Pikes Market.
Pikes Market!
The market was exactly as I suspected, old, dirty, run down, gross but pretty dang cool at the same time. When in Seattle...you go to Pikes Market.
The first ever Starbucks!
The flowers were lovely.
Of course, there were cats playing instruments!
Heading down to the alley to my worst nightmare...
The Infamous gum wall!
It was so disgusting!
But again, ...when in Seattle
Chewing their gum so they can add their gum to the wall
Lot's of graffiti
Seattle was pretty sketchy but it was during the day and we had a large group so we felt just fine…mostly!
They did have amazing fruit stands.
Calli was in heaven when she found a Mate' store.
After the market we walked to the pier. It was much better. It was cleaner and more relaxed. We stopped at a cafe for hot chocolate and bathrooms.
Grandpa standing in front of a "Sam" sign.
(When grandma and grandpa first met she thought his name was Sam. )
A real spook alley
The pier was amazing.
We all jumped on and rode the Great Wheel
Amazing Views
There's our ship. You can see the North Star straight up.
The space needle.
Walked through a cute little restaurant.
Making music with their quarter machine trinkets.
Grandma and grandpa walked ahead and got a head start to the space needle. So impressed with grandma and grandpa this entire trip. They walked and walked and walked. They kept up with us and did everything we did. I had to keep reminding myself that they are almost 80 years old. They still seem so young and was up for anything!
We crossed an item off my bucket list and rented scooters to ride there.
So fun riding through the streets of Seattle
Made it to the space needle.
We decided not to go to the top because it was getting time to start finding our way to the airport, but we went into the gift shop and shopped around.
We rode the monorail to the tram station...
The monorail was great.
We ate lunch at a Chipotles that had an on shift officer that just walked around the restaurant, clearly we were not in the best part of town.
Then we jumped on the tram which was like the New York Subway and rode it to the airport. That was sketchy. I profiled every single person that got on and off. We were so glad to get to the airport and off that tram. Once we got to the airport it started raining. First and only time of our entire trip, what a blessing. The lines at the airport were pretty long to get through security. Took us about an hour. Our flight was at 6:00pm but we still had plenty of time before our flight. The next night I read that lines were out into the garage and that people were missing their flights...again, blessings!
AMAZING Sunset leaving Seattle. Goodbye Seattle, if I never see you again, it will be too soon. I was not sad to leave Seattle. Haha! It was fun and I’m glad we got to explore downtown but was happy to be leaving it behind. Las Vegas never looked so good. Haha!
Hello Las Vegas. We landed around 8:30 pm Vegas time and just like Port Valet promised our luggage was there waiting for us. Best decision ever. We stopped by Raising Canes on our way home and pulled into town around 1:00am. What an amazing, fantastic, beautiful time we all had. We laughed, made some core memories and experienced things we'll never get to do again. Thank you Royal Caribbean and Alaska!
A few days later on one of the groups I follow, someone had posted that they found one of our ducks...so fun! Another perfect ending to a perfect vacation. Where we going next? :)
