WDW Day 3 - Animal Kingdom

Day 3 – Monday, September 7, 2026 - Animal Kingdom Day!

This was our first park day and we did Animal Kingdom and Rain Forest Café in Animal Kingdom. Staying at a on-site resort, we got early entry for each park, 30 minutes before rope drop. So, we woke up bright and early, to leave for the buses at 6:00am. One of my favorite things from the vacation was having Sadie and crew come knock on our door each morning and open it to see them all standing there with their Mickey ears on, ready to go. They were always right on time. We were first in line for the buses and got to Animal Kingdom with plenty of time. Just as they were letting us in a Florida rainstorm swept in. It came so fast that we were wet before we could get our ponchos on and umbrellas out. Haha! But it ended about as fast as it started. As soon as the gates opened, we headed straight to Pandora for the Avatar ride. We had lightning lanes for the ride later, but figured we’d want to ride it more than once. We did baby swap and it worked out great. We walked around Pandora until our lightning lane for the Safari, which was awesome. Then we rode Expedition Everest in the rain. Again, we did child swap. The first group didn’t get very wet but by the time Adam and I got on it, it was pouring again and we got soaked. Haha! We stopped and ate lunch, my pulled pork mac and cheese was so good, did some shopping (some bought dry shirts haha) and got churros.

After lunch and shopping, we rode Na’vi River which ended up being one of my favorites. Liam was asleep when we got on and woke up during the ride, he was wide eyed. Haha!  After Na’vi River, we rode Avatar again. So so good! Then we rode River Rapids and went to the Lion King Show. Another favorite, although, Liam was not sure about the fire dancers. He clung to Calli and kept hiding his face. It was so cute.   After the show we all got a viral cookie/brownie ice cream sandwich. It was worth the hype. While Sadie, Nick, Carter and Gentry went on Expedition Everest again, the rest of us took Liam and did the trails. We did the Gorilla Falls, and Discovery Island trails seeing so many cool and random animals along with lots of green shady trees and waterfalls. We met back up and walked through and under the Tree of Life, did some more shopping. (I got the cutest Tree of Life playset that I had my eye on all day, but it was too big to fit in our suitcase so we had it shipped. What an extra fun surprise when it showed up.) After shopping, we made our way to Rain Forest Café’ for dinner. (A tradition, we try to keep with every Disney visit) We all loved Animal Kingdom. With it closing earlier, we went back to the resort, got our refills :) and gathered in our room for games and mobile ordered ice cream shakes.
