Hell Hole Canyon Hike

Saturday, November 28th Adam and I ventured out on another hike, It's crazy how after a while your body craves the exercise.
We had done this hike before but never ventured as far into the canyon as we did this day.
As we began there was a helicopter clearly out looking for someone on the Red Mountain. The helicopter continued it's search through our entire hike. We later found out they were looking for a 15 year old boy who had been hiking the day before with his family and got separated. Luckily after about a 24 hour search they found him alive on the mountain.

Heading into the canyon the views are pretty in the instance but you have to walk through a sandy wash and sage brush to get there. The more you venture inward the prettier it gets.

I spy fall in the canyon
The size of the sheer cliff walls were amazing. Pictures never do it justice.

It was so pretty with the morning sun shining off the rocks. Once we got down into the canyon it was fairly cold in the shade.

Looking back!
Once we got out of the wash and entered the mouth of the slot canyon, there were huge boulders to climb and cross over.

Holes in the canyon wall. People are so funny!
Adam was determined to go as far in as we could. We hit dead ends three different times but Adam kept finding a way though or around them. He said we went further than he had ever been and he grew up hiking in that canyon.
Such Incredible Views! They were definitely comparable to Zion's.
Adam stuck in a "dead end"crack that he was determined to get through...we did!

Adam had said that you could only go so far without ropes and equipment. We thought we had finally found the end but again Adam found a way around it.

Could not get enough of the view. This is deep inside the canyon looking back.
Venturing on. He leads and I follow.

Until we finally, found the end. We could actually see the end of the canyon. He said we could of gone up the sides and over to continue out the other side but we were happy with how far we had gone.

So we sat down, took a break, ate our granola bars and drank our body armor drinks and enjoyed the view before heading back out.
One of my favorite things about our hikes is just chatting and talking as we go.

Heading back down all the obstacles we had gone up.

About 4 miles and 4 hours later we made it back to civilization. It was such a great morning. The weather was nice, we had the whole canyon to ourselves, the views were amazing and the company was the best. Love our Saturday morning hikes together.
