Another great Saturday hike. It was rainy this day but we didn't let that slow us down. We headed for the hills anyway. It turned out to be a great day for a hike. We got sprinkled on here and there but nothing too bad and it smelled amazing.
White Rocks. We started at the lava caves parking lot so it added another mile onto our hike.
Checking out the Lava Caves
Amazing Views...I just love the red rocks!
It was cool to see the red rocks transition into white rocks.
We made it to the "amphitheater"
We both prefer looped hikes that take you back a different way. This one was the same trail to and from so... we trail blazed and took off into the back country behind the white rocks.
The slot canyon we hiked down.
It was gorgeous but nere racking. Around every corner, we were not sure what we would find or if it would be passable. the farther down we went the more we hoped we wouldn't get stuck and have to turn around and go back
But we kept plunging ahead and made it. We cut off about a half mile of our hike and met back up with the trail.
Dew Drops on the leaves.
Looking back at the slot canyon we had just conquered.
Heading home under a still overcast sky.
