The mandate from Utah's governor to wear masks and avoid social gatherings ended just in time for Thanksgiving but we were still highly recommended to keep the gathering small preferably with just those in your home. Some did, some didn't. We planned having a small thanksgiving with just our family and Mati and Austin but when Calli was tested positive the night before (see "Calli's gets Covid" Post) we took a hard detour and our numbers got even smaller. It was a different Thanksgiving this year for sure but it's okay...it's 2020 right?!
Gentry patiently waiting for dinner. Even though we were small in numbers, Adam and I still went all out for Thanksgivings. I wish I taken a picture of the spread because I was really impressed with ourselves. We made Prime Rib, Potato Casserole, Broccoli Casserole, Green Bean Casserole, Jello Salad, Rolls, Stuffings and pies. We prepared a lot of it the night before.
Running over Thanksgiving dinner to Mati and Calli
After Thanksgiving Dinner we spent the night teaching the kids how to play poker. It was so fun!
The next day, Gentry and I ventured out a little bit for some black Friday shopping. 90% of Christmas will be online orders but we wanted to look for a few things. Town was still pretty busy but safety precautions were set up. Here we are waiting for our turn to enter See's Candy who was limiting the customers inside.
The best part of the holiday and probably 2020 was the challenge that came from President Nelson one week before Thanksgiving. He sent out a worldwide message of hope and asked everyone to use social media and post one thing we were grateful for for the next 7 days with the hashtag #givethanks It was awesome seeing so many positive posts for those 7 days. It really helped the holidays feel more upbeat.
Happy 2020 Thanksgiving!
